"Dream Team"... :guffaw:

Why exactly are people so fascinated by what Vince Young of all people think? If Michael Vick had used those words, this would make a lot more sense. But, to me, this is a silly thing to keep bringing up.

Considering the same problems we had last year are still there, I don't know why they were a favorite. I had hoped our defense improved, but we miss Jim Johnson more than any player.

ETA: And I don't even know what's up with the turnovers. Jesus fucking Christ.

There exists a rather perverse mentality among a lot of NFL fans to take joy in Vick's failures, even though there have been plenty of other pricks in active roles -- players, executives and owners -- throughout the history of the league. I've never been a fan of Vick, simply because while he has legs and a cannon, he has no accuracy whatsoever.

His off-the-field stuff is deplorable, but Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth have killed people through their drunk driving, and I don't see people taking like Dorian Thompson taking glee in their on-field missteps. (Well, the latter, since Little is retired.)

You're right. I'll keep laughing at how completely jinxed this team seems to be and because they're the latest in a long line of teams to prove that buying all the talent in the world to get a championship rarely works.

I don't get that argument either. The NFL has a salary cap. Not only does it set a hard limit for how much you can spend, but it also sets a minimum. Teams are generally required to spend something like 93% of the cap. If you look at the Eagles, they are historically among the cheapest teams in the league. All those rules they talked about to close loopholes and require teams to actually spend the money rather than put in useless options that made it look like a team was spending enough? The Eagles pioneered them.

This off season, they signed two big name players on defense, traded for a third, and signed a headcase from Tennessee and suddenly they're the New York Yankees? They bought players to try and close some staggering holes in their defensive line and secondary, while unfortunately leaving their offensive line, linebackers, and safeties without any kind of help. That's not buying a championship and people who thought they were a lock weren't very smart to begin with.

Your memory is quite selective, Timby. I took great pleasure in the fact that Ben Rapistberger didn't lead his Steelers to victory in the last Super Bowl. Perhaps the fact that Donte Stallworth, Leonard Little, Ray Lewis et all weren't awarded $100 million contracts, weren't voted the Doak Walker "courage" award after serving a prison sentence, weren't shoved in our faces as wonderful "comeback stories" like Vick was all last year has something to do with Vick being focused upon much more. They gave that loser a $100 million dollar contract. Yeah, yeah, yeah "only" 31 million is guaranteed. Big deal. At least Roethlisberger (keep those late hits coming DBs) can play his position well. Maybe it's because my local DJ (aka moron) Jim Traber decided to do an off the cuff commentary/opinion piece one fine day stating that if you weren't inspired by Michael Vick, if you didn't like him and couldn't cheer for him, you were a bad person incapable of forgiveness in life--his words, not mine. So yes, I chuckle when he throws picks and I'll continue to do so without apology. Too bad Roethlisberger performed well today. It would have been a double treat for me, Philly and Pittsburgh going down the tubes.

Well, your apparent hatred of the Eagles traces itself to something fans did before they knew an extraordinarily unlikeable guy had such a bad injury, so don't just put your cards in the Vick basket right now. Play up the full schadenfreude. :)

Another close Denver loss..... but it was the first loss all season that had me pacing the room at the end, excited and hopefull that we could pull the upset off. With any luck, this formally marks the beginning of Tebow time. Tebow didn't look all that great, and he's probably not going to win more games for us than Orton, but it's time to let him take his shot.

I was planning on writing this before Tebow came in, but..... it's time to sit Orton for the season. Our season is sunk, regardless of who's under center. Orton has not been good thus far and has made a ton of mistakes, and he's supposed to be famous for not screwing up and he's supposed to be in an offense that will make it harder for the QB to make those mistakes! He's in the last year of the contract, and there's no way in hell he would come back, even if Fox wanted him. Now, we need to put Tebow out onto the field and let him work with the first team. We are going to be in position to draft some great QBs in the off season, and it would be an absolute shame and a waste to draft a new QB without seeing what our last first round QB (who cost us 3 picks) can do. If Tebow continues to stink and he doesn't improve enough to make the coaches like him, then let's draft a new guy. But at this stage, playing him and letting him earn his keep will be the best way to spend what is rapidly turning into a lost season.

Even though we lost, it felt good to be excited about some Broncos football again. :)

Saw that game today. Became a real exciting game at the end. And as much as I hate to admit this, I was pulling for Tebow and the Broncos there at the end. If Fox goes back to Orton next week, he's out of his mind.

Now excuse me while I go throw up. :scream:

I want to see Tebow succeed. He seems like a cool guy and he's obviously a hard worker. Who cares if he fits the "type." Just let him go out there and do what he does best, but don't be afraid to open up the playbook to him. They're never going to be able to see his value if they only let him hand the ball off or run it.

They showed the end of the Broncos game here. That was one hell of a last play, good and bad. Tebow had an eternity to get the ball off and did so when most QBs would've been sacked several times over. I didn't see the replays to see if any receivers were anything resembling open, though. Hope he realizes that might be the only time he'll have that crazy amount of time...

Looks like Indy is gonna blow that huge lead.

Yeah I'm not sure who those guys in the red helmets were today. Especially the QB.

They're the guys playing one of the top contenders in the Suck for Luck sweepstakes. That was a pretty awful collapse on their home field on Indy's part.

There'll be plenty of opportunities if Vick's offensive line continues its quality play. Not to mention his fine defense. Couldn't they have spent any money on their lines? They needed to, apparently. Yes, I hated Philly long before Vick. It's not just Vick by a sight. And Traber worships the Steel men. That's enough reason to hate them. That blowhard needs to be humbled again and again.
