2011 NFL Season - A New Game

But to think that there are children 5 and 6 years old around New England and beyond that have never experienced the joy of a Pats superbowl title is devastating. (The ones in some 3rd world pit wearing 2007 SB XLII Champs shirts don't count.)

At age 5 you can't even begin to appreciate something like that. I was 13 when "my" club won its first championship of my conscious lifetime, and in hindsight I didn't grasp the significance of that until they failed to repeat that success for many years after that.

I think you have to suffer as a fan for at least a decade (and the longer the better) to make a championship really worth it.

The Lions have a chance to go 4-0 against a battered Dallas Cowboys team.

They still have a chance to flop in big games later on against teams like Green Bay, New Orleans, San Diego, but I'm trying to keep the faith of a playoff run of some sort.

Cam Newton and my nemesis Steve Smith seem to be having another outstanding and still losing performance today; looks like a great game though, I should have chosen that instead of the not-so-exciting Steelers vs Texans. ;)

Da Bears have snatched victory from the jaws of their own ineptitude.

Forte runs for 205 yards, virtually no passing offense. Some balance, yes?

How can you pass 400 yards every game and still lose? Amazing. Carolina Super Bowl champions 2013 - you heard it here first!

Man, so far it's been a good year to be a Detroit fan.

Detroit can be 8 -0 and we'd be scared they could lose the rest.

Well, it's not exactly a punishing performance by the Patriots so far; I'm sceptical if they are Super Bowl material this year.

The Eagles need to get themselves a kicker and some defense. Dream team? They did the Texas A&M Aggies proud. And that nice man Michael Vick tried so hard. Hee hee....those kicks whatshisname missed were both less than 40 yards, weren't they? :guffaw: I hated Philadelphia even before Vick since I saw their fans clapping and cheering when Michael Irvin (admittedly not the greatest of guys) was laid out on the field with what looked to be a potentially paralyzing injury--and I sure don't like them any better now. So, they're in last place in their division? Didn't Philly's kicker last year leave for the 49ers in free agency?

What sadist decided to pair Joe Buck and Troy Aikman? I swear my ears are going to bleed before the game is over.

Unfortuntely, the Denver game about as well as expected, so I'm not going to go much into it. The only issues I have is.....

~Why did we just kneel down at at half time? Our defense established that it probably won't (not won't, just probably won't) stop the Packers, and they're going to get the ball first in the second half. We have all three timeouts and the long ball was working on them. Why the hell don't we take some shots and try to level things out a little bit?

~The hell kind of "Tebow Package" was that? A single play at midfield where he tries to run it up the middle? If that's all the coach is going to do with him, then they shouldn't waste the down. When Tebow goes in, everyone prepares for the run, and there's no way that he's going to get anything going up the gut. The Tebow Package is a waste of energy and downs unless they build some variety into it. This was the same thing I said last year when McD was trying to do it- when Tebow goes in, the defense knows exactly what's coming.

On the "bright side", Rodgers and the GB defense have single-handedly won a couple fantasy games for me.

Sweet Mother of all creatures great and small....

The Redskins really tried to give us the game today, but the Rams didn't want it. Another pitiful offensive display.

Does anyone want to catch a fucking pass? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Maybe some more penalties will help...

Going into the bye week 0-4, having played 3 home games. I can't believe how terrible my Beloved Rams are the season.

:scream:

:brickwall:

:wah:

I know everyone's feelings on Big Ben, but four weeks of defenders going for his knees with no flag is ridiculous!!!!
If it were Brady a flag would have been called EVERY time! Although they need to sign some people for the front line IMMEDIATELY, especially when you fudge up an important field goal.

At this point you really don't need to add "maybe" when including Brady among the best of all time.

I still think the Patriots are going to come into this game ticked off and take it out on the Raiders, but I also think the Raiders will be competitive for a while.

Listened to the game in the car while driving home visiting my Mom. You were right on your prediction.

Um...I was joking, I thought it was pretty obvious.

The people that should really be happy at this point are Lions fans.

Got back from Arrowhead about an hour ago. I swear that's the weirdest, most conflicted I've ever felt about a win. Nice to break out of the slump, but can't help wondering if it wasn't a bad thing, a VERY bad thing in the long run.

Nice to see Succop get his leg back, and Matt Casshole even made a few decent throws. Still don't like him though and still want him gone, gone, gone.

Welcome back from vacation, Chris Johnson! And Matt Hasselbeck continues to make me very very happy.

It's especially shocking since their new Head Coach was San Diego's Defensive Coordinator, IIRC.

What sadist decided to pair Joe Buck and Troy Aikman? I swear my ears are going to bleed before the game is over.

Worst. Announcing team. Ever. I'll take Madden at his worst.

:techman:

Also: Cowboys lost yay, Bills lost boo, Pats won boo.

Still - Titans at 3-1 and Pittsburgh up next and looking pretty woozy? Bring it! :mallory:
