2011 MLB Season Discussion

^ As a long-time Cubs fan, I think it might be best if he "retired".

We wouldn't have to overpay for his BS anymore.

Unfortunately. his second half of 2010 was an anomaly.

I'm 0-3 when going to Twins games this season. Maybe it's a good thing I'm only planning to attend one other game this year.
Ouch! :( I hope that record has been better in years past
No, it's pretty much normal. Last year was a rarity- the Twins won two games I attended. I guess I'm a bit of a jinx. It's worse with hockey- I only go to one or two games a year, but I've yet to see the Wild win in person.

I doubt he's actually retired. He's basically daring the Cubs to put him on waivers and trade him, but he and Barry Praver (his agent) are too deluded to realize that Hendry was shopping Zambrano hard leading up to the deadline, and no team was willing to take a flyer on him unless the Cubs ate every last penny of his contract (especially since he's owed $18 million next year and has a vesting option for 2013).

In any event, the Cubs have placed Big Z on the disqualified list; he will receive no pay and cannot be with the team for at least 30 days. The union has already filed a grievance, saying that the move is "too harsh" ... they might have a point if Zambrano didn't have a history longer than Rich Harden's medical records.

If the Rockies lose tonight, and they're well on their way (losing 6-2 in the 7th) then it will be 17 consecutive Sunday losses for the Rockies. I love the Rockies, but I'm rooting for the streak!

Carlos Zambrano says he never meant his retirement talk, rather, he's simply frustrated with his pitching performance.

YES

YES

JIM HENDRY HAS BEEN SACKED AS THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE CUBS

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Wait.

Oh, shit, Dave Littlefield is a scout for the Cubs.

Edit: Apparently Hendry was fired on July 22, but was kept around to sign draft picks. This is particularly hilarious considering that as recently as August 13, the Ricketts family said that Hendry would keep his job.

Well, loosing 5-7 is better than getting shut out 0-6.

pardon my French, but SHIT! This skid is making watching games no fun at all. This is beyond torture!

Apparently Tom Ricketts has made it clear to people around the league that the Cubs' GM job is Brian Cashman's if he wants it.
