That was my reaction. At first I didn't get it because you hear that expression from time to time, chink meaning a small dent or something similar. Is it possible that whoever wrote it simply didn't think about it? Just a major brain fart as it were? Finally I was like, "Ohhh....okay." The expression is usually uttered in a benign context. Didn't an editor catch it almost immediately and take it down?
Yeah, a chink is small flaw or dent in a hard surface. I've heard the expression a thousand times in my life. My mind literally didn't even make the connection between the word "chink" and a racial slur because the expression is fairly ubiquitous. Was the writer's termination permanent or a temporary suspension?
You're referring to the Knicks, right? Hard to remember back that far. They certainly weren't a young team back then. The Spurs were young but that '98-'99 team was the start of a mini-dynasty. I'm not sure what affect, if any, a shortened season has on the eventual Finals participants, although I keep reading that it favors young teams. Sixty-six games is less than eighty-two so that says to me the older teams are helped more by a shortened season. The other thing is that the playoffs still require 16 wins to get a championship. That is also not affected by a shortened season. They just scream too young to me. Which doesn't mean shit. But in a but in a short, condensed season, young legs could help.
Who knows, the last time there was a lockout, an 8 seed got to the Finals.
The assists and rebound totals are fantastic, but the 18 points were kind of bogus. He shot 7-20, pretty typical of Rondo. The guy is an enigma. As good as he is, he has such a flawed offensive game. When trade rumors surfaced a week or two ago, Pau for Rondo +, my feeling was that the Lakers would be giving up too much.Rajon Rondo..... 18 points, 20 assists, 17 rebounds!!!
Only TWO players in history have ever had a better line than that: Wilt and Oscar!!

I wouldn't mind having him on the Lakers because he is a upgrade over what we have, but not if it costs Pau. With Rondo's inability to hit from outside, the Lakers would pretty much be back where they are now -- in need of a point guard who can hit from the perimeter.
