Outland.
On the other hand, we TV science fiction buffs have NEVER had it so good.
Sure beats the hell out of more schlock from Glen Larson.

Yo stoner1! put down the bong and step away from the computer!
This is a "movie thread" not a "tv thread", if you want to prostitute soaps like 'Lost' or 'Battlestar' then stick to the correct threads.
much more interesting than tv, I think movies are better, deeper and of a way higher quality.
scifi on tv has gone to hell. Across the net it's just all Whedonphiles, RonMoorephiles, Abramsphiles trying to pimp some silly tv series![]()
Produced for $100,000,[6] 2081 will run 25 minutes

Two additional ones for 2009 that are actually playing at Sundance:
"The Clone Returns Home" (Japanese): A young astronaut has his body and memory “cloned" before a trip to space as a sort of insurance policy in case something goes wrong. Something does go wrong.....
The second movie, "Stingray Sam" is one that I can't believe I hadn't heard about until now, as it's by writer/director/actor/musician Cory McAbee, whose 2001 film "The American Astronaut" is one of my favorite cult movies of all time. Like "The American Astronaut", "Stingray Sam" is a sci-fi/comedy/musical/western. Yes, a sci-fi/comedy/musical/western, shot in black and white, on a shoestring budget. The plot synopsis for "Stingray" is (from IMDb):
Here's the trailer:A dangerous mission reunites STINGRAY SAM with his long lost accomplice, The Quasar Kid. Follow these two space convicts as their earn their freedom in exchange for the rescue of a young girl who is being held captive by the genetically designed figurehead of a very wealthy planet.
