2009 Calendars

This is the first year in many moons I'm not buying a Star Trek calendar. With only two to choose from these days, I was unimpressed with both. As much of a TOS fan as I am, I'm kind of getting tired of them getting their own calendar every year. This one didn't even have any movie shots. The Ships of the Line just didn't seem that good this year. Last year they had four months from Enterprise (my favorite series), and this year, not one.

I loved the Stardate desk calendar, but we'll never see that again. Instead of a TOS wall calendar, why not have a Trek wall calendar that spans all five series? Have two months for each of the four spinoffs, and four for TOS. That's what I would try. I would definitely buy that one.

Yeah, I've actually been kinda suprised that there isn't a franchise wide calendar too.

Because TOS calendars have sold consistently well since the mid 70s when they started. So they keep being made.

We can only hope. I loved re-experiencing the five series and the movies with that calendar. It kept everything alive. Plus some of the pages were keepers with the great photography.

Unfortunately, the Stardate calendars were a buttload of work and didn't sell all that well. *sigh*

Yeah, I'd love to see the Stardate calendar return.

I am pissed that two years in a row the Enterprise E is not featured in the ships of the line calendar...what the hell?? Such an underrated ship Did not get either calendars

This year I bought a World of Warcraft calendar.

I have been buying Trek calendars on and off since 1976 but a couple years ago I decided no more.. what is the deal with the slightly blurry up close pictures of characters heads. BORING. Where is the scenery? Where are the pivotal scenes? They are just terrible. Ships of the Line I have bought a few times but as I actually use calendars they are kind of impractical.

Star Wars calendars are usually awesome. I've had a few of those.

A couple years ago there was a Trek calendar that was black and white drawings? I think? Anyone remember?

How many calendars does a man need?

If they were wonderful calendars I would buy them all. There are so many great things you could do with Trek calendars! Lets have one that has Trek dates in it, first airing of TOS, Roddenberry's birthday, dates mentioned in ENT, Captain Picard day (could be the date that ep first aired).. let's have bits of trivia and odd factlets here and there and QUOTES from the show. And of course pictures that are actually interesting.

No. It's certainly possible it may show up in a future edition, tho (possibly along with a delicious Vanguard centerfold? Wouldn't that be sweet? Awwwwwwwwwwwww yeah......)

I'd love to have a SotL calendar devoted entirely to ships, stations, and events from the books.

All I ask for is a desktop daily calendar. Maybe it could just be pictures, or quotes, or whatever. I don't care. But that is all I ask for.

^ Having seen firsthand the effort that goes into putting one of those together, and knowing how well they sold, I can understand why they were discontinued. Unfortunate, since I was a fan of them, but I get it.
