2008 WWE Draft - Big Surprises

I can agree with Mickey.

As for tag team wrestling... PROMOTE IT! MAKE SOME TEAMS AND LET THEM BE TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 1 YEAR!

I was watching ECW last night and after I saw Tommy Dreamer get slapped around again (which sucks Dreamer used to be the best!!). I was thinking with this new "superstar initiative" deal going on Dreamer should be come a mentor to some of these young guys and form a stable. They could be like a newer version of the J.O.B. Squad. They could say they were "extreme" and could compete with the rest of the WWE to prove they are on the same talent level. They could put together a tag team, and also go for the smaller titles like US champion, IC champ etc. I also like the idea of bringing back the cruiser weight title.

I liked Lance Storm's idea that he discussed prior to the draft. It would involve all of WWE's Cruiserweight wrestlers "conveniently" ending up on ECW (well, probably not Rey but the rest) and then bringing the title back.

As it stands, there is talk of expanding the current Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jnr partnership to include other young second and third generation wrestlers - Nattie Niedhart and DH Smith being obvious choices, even though they're both on Smackdown.

Although I think Dreamer doesn't want a Push anymore, he's happy putting other people over. Isn't his main role behind the scenes anyway these days?

that could work well... And it would give ECW a second championship to have fun with

To what end?

They already do. Officially, the United States title is a ECW title.

To push them as a new stable. Mixed up in that group's family tree are the Million Dollar Man, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, the British Bulldog, Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart and Dusty Rhodes. They could say they've got wrestling greatness running through their veins.

Edit - I forgot, there's also Deuce, formerly of Deuce and Domino who moved to Raw in the draft. He is Jimmy Snuka's adopted son.

The World Heavyweight title (Punk), the IC Title (Kingston) , the World Tag Team Title (DiBiasi & Rhodes) and the Womens Title(somehow I can't remember right now who has the title :o ).

Smackdown has:

WWE Championship (Triple H)
WWE Tag Team Championship (John Morrison and the Miz) *
WWE Divas Championship (Vacant - Michelle McCool vs Natayla at the Bash)

ECW has:
ECW Championship (Mark Henry)
WWE United States Championship (Matt Hardy)

Raw has:
WWE World Heavyweight Championship (CM Punk)
WWE Intercontinental Championship (Kofi Kingston)
WWE Womens Championship (Mickie James)
WWE World Tag Team Championship (Ted DiBiase Jnr and Cody Rhodes)

* = Miz and Morrison remain members of the ECW roster. Smackdown and ECW have a talent sharing arrangement that allows wrestlers from both shows to compete for both show's titles without moving rosters. That's why, as well, Matt Hardy defended the US title against an ECW guy (Chavo) and two Smackdown guys (Kennedy and Benjamin) on Friday.

That said, just two weeks after the draft, they made everything look stupid again. On Raw, Mickie James and John Cena were approached by Kelly Kelly, dressed ready to wrestle. Mickie introduced her as "Raw's newest Diva". Cena asked her if (ECW GM) Teddy Long had let her out of her contract and she just answered "We have contracts ?"

So, looks like she'll be revisiting her epic feud with Layla, anyway.

They need to figure out what they're going to do with Miz and Morrison. I figured they would both just get drafted to Smackdown but that didn't happen. Their whole gimmick ("We are the WWE Tag Team Champions - Be jealous") goes if they drop the belts, and then so does their web show The Dirt Sheet.

It will be recorded before Raw and shown in it's current slot.

As it stands, sometimes ECW is recorded before Smackdown or it's shown live afterwards. Depends on what time zone the arena is in.
