2008 WWE Draft - Big Surprises

The genius of choosing JBL as an opponent has been pointed out to me.

Texans and Oklahomans apparently don't get along too well. JBL is Texan, so Punk beating him will make him very popular with the local crowd.
Go to a Texas / OU game... we get along great :D

In all reality, I didn't realize that until now... I just assumed they would use JBL because there is a real chance that the WWE would make him champion again.
Unfortunately, they are building on shaky foundations since cashing in on a guy who has been destroyed by someone else is a very "heelish" move. In fact, it's right out of the guy he beat's playbook, and he's the biggest heel in the company.
Nah... anti-heroes are the rage!

JBL is well off that list right now even with the newly depleted Raw roster. He openly admits that he can't work the schedule that being champion would demand.

Somehow, I can't see Stone Cold Steve Austin pulling that trick.

But he is a great "showman", and that is more interesting than actual in ring ability

Why not? Austin used to cheat to get ahead too!

What I meant was that he can't work house shows due to his back. It's not recovering as well as he hoped which is why he looks so out of shape.

Yeah, but during his face days he wouldn't do what CM Punk did. Edge has taken the concept of a wrestling heel to a new level, yet CM Punk pulled a trick out of his book.

Oh this is just dumb.

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Trevor Murdoch as of July 03, 2008. WWE wishes Trevor the best in all future endeavors.

Every time they do a draft, one of the draftees gets cut.

Y'all know wrestling is fake, right?

So are movies, TV and Baseball. Doesn't stop us talking about those.

Look through this thread, we're discussing wrestling as a business.

Yeah, it's ridiculous that every time wrestling is discussed outside a wrestling board, some idiot things he has to break the sad news to those who discuss it, that it is "fake".

Newsflash: The vast majority of people watching Wrestling knows that it is a scripted sport, most likely even better than those who think they have to save them from watching something "faked".

Paxil, you have done your duty and you can now go back to discuss those documentaries like Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, Doctor Who etc.

Maybe he would like it if the WWE added the Law and Order disclaimer at the end :D

I didn't watch SmackDown this past week... When is it moving to mytv

Are you sure you knew? Because you seem awful pissy about it. "Scripted Sport" :guffaw:

^I'd imagine he's "pissy" about it because, as usual, you're trolling. Everyone in this thread is treating professional wrestling as an entertainment business.

As it's meant to be... It is pure entertainment

If it was meant to be taken real, the focus would not be on the "characters" and scripts that they try to sell every week

^Exactly. You what wrestling would be like if it was real ? It'd be like watching two people play a WWE video game - using the cheapest, quickest moves to win with no emphasis on entertainment whatsoever.

In fact, it'd be just like MMA. Two guys rolling around on the floor until one of them gives up.

You missed some cool stuff with Trips at the start, making jokes at Vickie and Edge. You see, Trips would never think of marrying the boss to get ahead.

Then he suggested they elope. Apparently he knows a drive through chapel in Vegas where they'll marry you even if one of the parties is unconscious.

No, you're right: I didn't knew it, thanks for enlighten me, oh mighty savior of misguided souls.

P.S.: To those who know Paxil better: Do you think my faked reply will make this troll go away?

How is it any different from bitching about Star Trek or other TV shows and movies? People aren't happy with the creative direction of WWE.

So kindly STFU. :techman:
