2008 Olympics!

I actually saw the beaning and subsequent ejection (I was on my way out, so I only caught a few minutes). I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher being ejected for beaning a player in the Majors.

I'm watching CNBC now, and I will never understand why baseball is getting dropped but table tennis can stay.

You can't tie in gymnastics at the Olympics? But you can at every other gymnastic event? What kind of fucked up rule is that? I mean, it was in place going in, so it's fair in that the athletes knew of it -- but I don't understand the rationale in implementing the rule in the first place.

Canada and the U.S. tied for gold in the Team Show Jumping event (in equestrian). Since ties aren't allowed, they had to have a jump-off, which the U.S. won. So Canada won silver, and we're quite pleased. :)

And right now I'm watching Simon Whitfield getting his silver medal in the Men's Triathlon. :bolian:

At jump off makes sense though for a tiebreaker. This tie breaking procedures was odd. I also don't see why the only gymnastic events where you can't tie is the Olympics, that makes no sense.

In the US they would have rushed the mound and had a huge fight in the same circumstances. They displayed a lot of self-control, except where they took it out on the Chinese catchers.

The catchers were crowding the plate a bit.

Go May and Walsh. They are so very dominate in this sport and I can't wait till the final either. Should be a good one. The Americans have had some difficulty beating the Chinese this Olympics, so maybe this is some payback.

Anyone following the Redeem Team. They are looking amazing so far and I think American international Basketball has made a triumphant return. The only thing I wish would be these players bringing back this good attitude and defense (Who knew?) to the NBA. Might make it a better league.

I've seen every game except the one vs. Greece. They play it close for the first quarter then dominate the rest of the game. Their fast breaks are awesome, you need to watch a game just to see some of those.

I like some of the comments that some of the NBA players were "outed" they could play defense.

Really? Because I have. Usually they throw high and tight but sometimes if they get them, they'll be ejected. Sometimes it's because they don't things to escalate. Other times it's because, well it's retaliation and they want none of that.

We just got a silver medal in sailing. :D Sweet!

We got two gold yesterday ... rather sweet. The mens 470 team were awesome, before the last race yesterday all they had to was finish the race, as they had enough points for the gold medal, but won the final race, and showed how dominant they were.

Also, did anyone hear about the incident that happened in the table tennis? *And someone thought why should it be there, when a certain sport isn't*

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Britain wins another three gold medals on the cycling track today (men's&women's sprint, men's madison)...

edit: well, maybe strike women's sprint, I'm not sure about that.
edit2: Chris Hoy is ridiculously strong this year, the men's sprint isn't even a competition with him in the race...

The poms have been awesome at these Olympics with the Cycling.

Currently have on the Opals play the Czech republic, and we're winning by 20 points in this quarter final match in women's basketball.

Ok, I was half wrong, seems like the Britons will win the two sprints, but they lost the Madison (must be a big disappointment for Cavendish). ;)

The prediction is that UK will be 6th at the end of the Games and I think that's about right. A lot of other teams will come into their own now the athletics are in full flood.

Another sailing gold for GB... keeps us above Australia in the table. :D
Depends whether you're measuring by total number of medals or by number of gold medals...

Golds, speaking of which we have 16 now after Christine Ohuruogu won the 400m! We're only two behind on total tally though.
Ah, see, I'm from Canada, which as a lot of bronze medals. So I measure by total number of medals. :p
