In the end, the tallest lady on the team won the all around. The gigantic, five feet three inch, 110 pound Nastia Liukin took the gold. It can be done. You don't have to be 68 pounds with a fake passport (like Deng Lin Lin).

GB's Ben Ainslie is guaranteed at least silver in the Finn class in the sailing! Excellent. And a little while ago GB broke the world record in the men's team sprint indoor cycling!
^ Saw that. Did have a laugh at what Phil Liggott said after the english beat the french. I saw that on the news tonight. Don't know the full story, but the first thing I thought was bad sportsmanship. We also won several silver medals today. And Jones is okay, after collapsing.
The times for the 1500m are much quicker than usually. And there is still another one hear to go. Grant Hackett needs a good heat. He can do it, but has been ill.
^ Greats on that. The English cycling team is awesome. Oh Grant is the fastest qualifier in the 1500m ... a true champ. He can do it.
Optimism for Canada from show jumping... currently tied for first in first team round... Germany is doing miserably, and is far out of the competition. Also looking good for Brazil at the moment.
I have a question, sorry if it has been answered before... I have noticed that some athletes have some blue or pink stripes painted (?) either on their shoulders and backs or their legs. I've seen it on beach voleyball players, basketball players etc etc What is that ?
It's not paint, it's...well, I don't remember what's called, but it's a kind of tape that helps the muscles in some way. It has become quite popular amongst the volleyball players.
Congrats to the Canadian women's football team for a sound Olympic debut! A quarter finals loss to the US is nothing to be ashamed of. I suppose I must find someone else to root for, though.
I think you mean "kinesio tapes". I don't know if that stuff is actually effective or just esoteric nonsense (I'd guess the latter), but some athletes swear by it.
I'll google kinesio tapes see what comes up... Reminds me when it was fashionable for everyone to wear those nose patches which supposedly helped breathing.
Actually from what I understand the wrestling part of the Olympics has been under a lot of scrutiny lately. There was a judge a few years ago that got banned for 2 years or something of the other. They basically threw this one. Bad calls and such.
Woohoo! Canada is first in something! Sadly not a medal round... Both Eric Lamaze and Mac Cone are amongst those tied for first in the first round of show jumping. The Canadian team also tied for second with the first team round, giving them a good position in the next round. Finally, Canadian has two great chances to medal. My money is still on Eric Lamaze and Hickstead for gold. I'd really enjoy him winning, having been banned two times previously.
Grant Hackett looked good in that qualifying race. Our track cycling team is brilliant, very strong. Rowing finals begin this weekend.
Any one else watch Phelps win his 7th medal? Dude I think the guy that came in second was robbed... So he has other events left for a possible 8th medal?
Did anyone see Dara Torres' awesome act of sportsmanship? She noticed a fellow swimmer's suit was torn and went to the officiator to request a delay in the race so that swimmer could go change her suit (and which the officiator allowed). Major kudos to Torres!
