2002 The Time Machine or how I lost my girlfriend, she died and I built a time machine.

It is Sienna Guillory.

But I noticed a woman dressed just like Emma in John Carter too and thought it was some kind of easter egg. He uses her to evade the Therns.
Maybe it was a stock costume that both movies used?
With neither of them really focusing on that era, I could see them doing something like that to save money for the future and Barssom stuff.

I can absolutely see the resemblance though.

And thanks for an excuse to re-watch John Carter. ;)

For me any excuse will do, that movie cheers me up when I have a bad day. Just a shame it never got a follow up. I always wondered how he went when he returned to Dejah at the end of the movie.

Did the Therns ever mess with Earth?

I love the book, so was - perhaps unfairly - disappointed when the movie didn't open with a handful of Victorian era scientists having an in-depth conversation about the fourth dimension.

I watched this a few months ago and thought it was pretty good. The stuff with the broken moon was a highlight.

Orlando Jones was better as the comic relief hologram than he had any right to be.

Funnily enough though, the film did originally begin with Hartdegen explaining his time travel theories. I guess they took it out/reshot when they realized the paradox subplot wouldn't work so well if he was already working on it prior to her death.

I didn't know that. Is the alternate intro available anywhere?

I saw it on the DVD. Failing that, maybe YouTube?

Watching it again, the time travel angle is much more sidelined that I remembered. (And not stated by Hartdegen, rather he has his own theory read back to him.) But there it is. :)
