Maybe. But, rather than a Red type character, I wish they'd had a more desk oriented character. Early in the first season, Janeway struck me as someone graced by family and connection for promotion without a lot of experience on the frontier, quite the opposite of Chakotay. It would have been more satisfying to see the two clashing and finding common ground in their respective command views in facing the Delta Quadrant rather than Janeway is always right which we more or less got.For those of you who have seen Mulgrew on OITNB:
1. Would Red (or a much more Red-like Janeway) have made a better captain for Voyager than the Janeway we got?
That's what 'The Secret Logs of Mistress Janeway' are about.2. Disregarding question 1, would Voyager have been better if Janeway's "getting away from it all" holodeck scenario had been *pretending* to be Red from OITNB, instead of the Fair Haven crap? (And can you imagine the rumors once the first member of the rest of the command crew had reason to see what the scenario was?)
