Spoilers 12 Monkeys - Season 3 Discussion Thread

On May 19, 2017, the best science-fiction show (in my opinion) since Battlestar Galactica will return to Syfy Channel. In an unprecedented move, Syfy will air the entire 10 episode third season over three consecutive nights. So set your DVRs and get ready to binge-watch!

12 Monkeys has already been renewed for it's fourth, and final season. It seems that the showrunners have a definite idea where they are taking this rather intricate narrative.

:bolian:

Season 2 was great, I can't wait to see where things go this season.

Same here. Can't remember all of the details from S2, but we're fixing that by binge-watching our way through Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. I remember what happened at the end of S2, but not everything that led up to it (with the notable exception being Jennnifer's LOTR/Braveheart/Independence Day speech... That was hilarious).

:D

It would be nice if more shows followed the binge format of this. I wonder if, given how a lot of series are having shorter seasons, this will become a more common thing in the near future...

Looking forward to this, will be nice to have all the episodes on the dvr so I can watch it at my pace.

Couldn't agree more. That's basically our gameplan as well. I wish that MTV would do the same thing with Shannara Chronicles, but don't really see that happening.

It appears now that it will be sometime in September, with the show moving from MTV to Spike. They will be doing a re-broadcast of Season I starting on June 29.

As I write this, we are now just five days from the Season 3 binge of 12 Monkeys. The Missus and I are still working our way through the Season 2 DVDs, hopefully being done in time to watch the premier on Friday.

Okay, I was getting ready to come on here and check on this... I was looking at my DVR and it had a shit ton of episodes playing over three nights... I thought maybe the DVR was acting screwy! Can't wait to start binge-watching tonight!

So given how the ratings system works, why would syfy do this? The most valuable viewers are still the ones who watch live. Are people going to be spending 4 hours a day watching 12 monkeys?

From what I understand, SyFy gets a lot more money off the Netflix and other sites fees. But they can only get that money once the full season finishes airing. This is their way of getting that money faster.

Plus, from what I read, because they are in block format of one series, SyFy can charge advertisers more money. So they come out winning, and we get our show all in one shot.

I personally don't mind that.

I loved Season 2, and I'm really looking forward to tonight. I don't know if I'll make it, but I'm planning on trying to make it through all 4 episodes tonight.

I'm not sure I'd want to do this all the time, but I'm definitely psyched for a block of new shows tonight. We finished binging on S2 just two days ago and I had forgotten how good that last ep was.

I don't usually binge stuff, when I do Netflix or watch the new stuff on my tablet, I usually watch one episode each of a bunch of shows, rather than a bunch of episode of one. 12M is one of the few shows I can think of where I'd actually be willing to do this.

Anyone watch the whole season? I'm not sure what to think. It was entertaining, but if you stop to think about it, it was probably extremely messy too.

Finished a couple hours ago.

Jennifer held the thing together. :)

I love the crazy. :)

Timey whimey, wibbly wobbly.
