I hope they realize too that as great as David Tennant has been, the new Doctor must be his own man (or woman, so to speak). Personality changes with regeneration, and I hope we don't just get someone giving their best David Tennant impression.

Why are they announcing it so early? the 11th Doctor is not due to film yet, will he be appearing in the specials?

^ I think they are planning to shoot in summer, so once they've cast him (her?) they'll have to keep it under wraps for 6 months. They might be wondering if they can keep it secret for that long. I hadn't thought that 11 will appear in a special, but it could happen, I suppose.

Remember ages ago, someone posted that 11 will be Paul Kaye? Just had a flashback to that.
