10 O’Clock Live ch4 (uk)

I think I'll be tuning in mostly for the Brooker segments (assuming someone doesn't do the right thing and just put them up on youtube).

Liked his rant on Tunisia with the shot of the hotel and panning round to stuff on fire. And the bit about Palin was good to.

Well, if their goal was recreating the Daily Show than they were doomed to fail either way.

I think it's just pissed off Daily Show fans trying to find a reason other then the ratings have dropped very low and it takes up a lot of slots running 5 nights a week in prime time.

It was on primetime (a mistake, I reckon - it should always have been on after 11, as I never got to see it while I was commuting) on More4, not Channel 4.
Those slots are now filled with more property porn, which is pretty much all More4 runs now, aside from cookery shows and one prestige documentary a week. Total waste of a Freeview slot - makes ITV2 look cerebral.

The money to fund E4, Film4, More4 and 4Music is a different budget to that used for Channel 4. Theirs is a commercial for profit budget while channel 4 is a public service not for profit budget (I think). More4 are supposed to be spending the budget they've saved to get more shows in. I think 4 is supposed to be the US version of Shameless, but yeah I get what you mean about More4's schedule. I miss the days when they had The Last Word on.

Good show, although i think the bit with DM and three guests is just too short for that many people to all get their point across and get a good debate going.....but apart from that it was really good.

Damn, totally forgot about last night's edition. Will have to see if I can get it online.

Did anyone read Deborah Orr's Guardian article today? The one titled Tina Fey is back! Hooray!?

This particular paragraph is utterly priceless...

Last week was particularly excruciating. The auto-cue went wrong while Laverne and Charlie Brooker were on camera. Neither of them could hold things together, but Laverne started dishing out what seemed like blame and responsibility, yelling at Brooker: "It's your item. It's your item." Other than this, there has been no tiny hint as to why the show has to be live at all. If it's to build creative tension and get the best out of the four performers, then it's not working. At all.

What a total moron.

If she's describing what I think she is, I agree. That was a set-up wasn't it? The camera pulled back to the live presenters to reveal as much.

Someone who thinks they're a smart arse didn't get the joke did they?

Journalism at its best, little research and lots of assumptions without any fact.

Silly bugger.

Funnily enough, this was the first week that I saw 10 O'Clock Live live (as opposed to time-shifted).

Is it just me or did Lauren's dress this week look like an iPhone screen?

Yeah, this woman is actually paid to write TV and Media articles. Johann Hari, who was on last night's show, was tweeting that everyone should give her a break because she has Breast Cancer. Apparently one of the side effects of that is the sudden inability to understand scripted jokes on TV.
