“Jean-Luc Picard is back”: will new Picard show eclipse Discovery?

I bought Police Story 3 supercop as soon as it came out on VHS when I was a teen, and of corse there was James Bond. She’s in all sorts of stuff, and apparently is a Londoner these days. Go Michelle.

I honestly don't watch many movies these days. I mean, I stopped going to the movies a lot when I was in my early 20s, but I have two children - kids who for some reason don't even like going out to see kids movies in the theater much. In 2017 I think I only saw Wonder Woman, Blade Runner 2049, and The Shape of Water in the theater. This year, Won't You be my Neighbor, Sorry to Bother You, and Hotel Transylvania 3 with my daughter.

I hear you. Last cinema trip for me was deathly hallows part two, so you can probably guess how old my little one is from that...since I haven’t gone to the cinema since I became a dad. Babysitters aren’t so easy to find for us xD
I don’t mind though...I grew up in the VHS boom, só watching films at home has always been a thing.

Last two movies I cared to see in the theater were Blade Runner 2049 and 2001: A Space Odyssey in IMAX.

The over-saturation of Marvel and Star Wars movies is killing me. I have never seen a Marvel movie other than GOTG v1 and the first Ironman.

I rarely go to the theater and hardly ever with my kids. More fun at home. Last film I saw was Hotel Transylvania 3 and before that was Solo. Oh, and the Lego Movie on a kid's day.

Suffice to say, my cinema going days are pretty limited.

I stand corrected. I did see Solo with my son on a rainy day. It was ok. Much like R1...I have no itching desire to see it again.

The last Marvel movie I saw was X-Men: First Class. Back in 2011.

Last movie I saw in the theater overall was Blade Runner 2049. I thought it was alright but unnecessary. I haven't seen anything in the theater in 2018... and I don't feel as though I've missed out. TV has had it over movies for a while now.

I have to look out for more of Michelle Yeoh's work.

Same. Just not worth trying to keep up with it all.

At least for me, there has also been the problem of almost all of my money going towards bills and having spent the bulk of my 30s driving down debt I built up in my 20s, and having to be more selective on my spending (and theater-going). Life is great sometimes. :p

Also that. I just graduated grad school.

I used to go to the cinemas a lot, but now i generally just go for the marvel movies. It doesn't help that a trip to the movies is ridiculously expensive. Here in Australia, a cinema ticked is $25 dollars. Snacks at Aussie cinemas are also insanely overpriced add some of those and you're looking at $40 overall for one person. If i had kids they'd be waiting for the movies to come out on xbox live.

While technically the X Men movies are Marvel, they are not "Marvel movies" in the sense of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because Fox owned the rights to the X Men, while Disney owned the rights to the rest of Marvel.

Of course, that's probably going to change very soon now, but I don't think the X Men movies - despite being mostly generic action flicks - were done to the same formula as Disney Marvel.

Whatever the initial intent may have been, it's inescapably obvious now that CBS intends to settle for spoon-feeding a dependable small audience of dedicated trekkies. This show is going nowhere innovative or interesting. There are some clever things being done in skiffy TV now - even some smart things. Trek, however, is safely bringing up the rear.
Stated by a person who GUSHES over a different show that basically goes where Star Trek went from 1987 - 1994 (and had some episodes that were practically remakes of some old TNG episodes). :guffaw:

I don’t remember ensign ro and Geordi getting married. Or Beverly having existential crisis about the nature of her being. If there was a romantic tension between riker and Picard in the first few seasons, I definitely missed it, as well Hugh joining the crew after Picard decided to keep him.....

I'll end up having a marathon of the top tiers at some point.
Well, there are no BAD movies in MCU, the worst two are probably the Edward Norton Hulk movie (yep that’s part of MCU) and the second Thor movie, but they are not BAD, they are just not as good as rest of MCU. I do envy the people who haven’t seen anything from MCU and will binge on all 20 (and counting) movies all in one shot (let’s say realistically 4 movies per day max, that’s already 5 days of binge watching)
