Spoilers ‘This Season On’ Trailer

They said in interviews that the collective is still out there and only that one cube was disconnected

Would that make Book a modern day Gary 7?
I was recently thinking something similar, though the most obvious hiccup with the idea is that Book said he was from a family of killers while Gary Seven's people are peaceful. The idea might still be workable somehow, IE Book's family are renegades or something.

That's a logical deduction. What bothers me is that nobody found a better propulsion system than warp drive with dilithium for 1,000 years. That stretches credibility to the extreme, even more than using the same ships for 1,000 years (if we take what we see literally, which I actually don't.)
I'm not so sure, Trek appears to have a technological plateau, once a race has the equivalent of phasers/transporters/warp drive the next step seems to be pure energy beings with not much in-between.

Indeed, or changes are largely minute or not impactful on the overall presentation.

You’d think that by the 32nd century, people would have either taken over the Borg’s transwarp conduits or reverse engineered them. You don’t need warp drive if your ship is just using an artificial wormhole to get places.
Or they didn't.

That chip or whatever burnham is handed has the starfleet registry 'NCC-4744...' on it. The USS Relativity had the registry NCV-474439-G. Obviously not the same prefix, but i wonder if there is a link?
I think there is a big link, the uss relativity has sensors to scan space time and a transporter that can send you to a point in space time. Maybe the ship is still around (it was 29th century) and Burnham uses it to find out what caused the burn.

Yeah it can't be a coincidence with that registry.

Although the different prefix probably means it will a different Relativity like the NCC-474439-F or something. Either way it would be a cool little throwback.

Yeah i think there is lots of evidence to suggest that trek cultures don't necessarily advance in a linear fashion. The dominion for had been around for 2,000 - 10,000 years and while their transporter technology was well in advance of the Federation, starfleet was able to counter dominion weapons pretty quickly and jem'hadar ships were slower and used standard warp.

In regards to why the Federation still uses dilithium, it's a substance that seems pretty common throughout the galaxy, so why wouldn't they keep using it? Also we know there are some types of dilithium that can allow a ship to achieve speeds of warp 10. It's entirely possible a new type of dilithium was discovered that allowed for a faster version of warp that didn't turn people into salamanders

The memory data device that being handed to Burnham, has the registry NCC-4774. Not NCC-474439. Y'all most likely find the full registry and the name of the starship that registry belong to, in episode 2 or a future episode.

No, the rest of the registry is obscured by the person's hand. Look again.

Has anyone mentioned the rest of the registry is obscured by the person's thumb?

The only odd thing is the NCC prefix instead of Relativity's NCV. And even that isn't a deal breaker. After all, Relativity was USS Relativity despite Future's End establishing 29th century timeships used the name prefix UTS.
