If they maintain good trends in streaming, subscriptions, and "interest expressions," it almost certainly guarantees more Star Trek on CBSAA.

That said, as I've expressed before, PIC had just about every variable going in its favor that you could imagine for a strong reception. We'll have to wait-and-see on this one.

I'm sure the YouTuber haters WILL find a way to spin this one around so that it fits to their narrative again. They always do.

Oh of course! Even if it's as simple as "streaming companies don't release the actual data to back-up their claims....so we know CBS is lying just to create buzz"...the excuses and spins will be there.

Yep. they wll go with cbs is lyiung about the numbers and their "inside source" has given then the real information that everybody hates it and people are dropping subs like flies after the first episode.

I think if STP lives up to the potential shown by the first episode and doesn't have any behind the scenes issues it will probably go down as some of the best Star Trek ever made. If it continues to be as successful as what's indicated by the OP then we can count on a bright future for the franchise. This is a good time to a Trek fan. The dynamics of the streaming landscape actually work in its favor, allowing for varied forays into a very large and expansive universe. Something for everyone! I never thought in a million years we'd have this embarrassment of riches from Trek.

Their headline will be "It's all downhill from here!!!"
Funny thing, is that after TNG, Trek did go down hill (viewership wise). DS9 was a little worse than TNG, VOY was worse than DS9, and ENT killed the whole thing.
Right now we're on the upswing. Picard is better than Discovery (by CBS own metrics), so... sky is the limit. Long live Star Trek!

Really good news. Great to see Picard being received so well :) here is hoping for some ds9 cameos and possibly an Archer short trek with the 20th anniversary next year

They'll retain me as a viewer until the end of the season, at which time I'll cancel my subscription again and wait until Disco season 3 to re-subscribe. Ain't streaming services grand?

I'm a consistent subscriber because my wife's Mom uses All-Access to watch all her regular CBS shows.
