Spoilers Russian Doll - Netflix Original Series

The attempts at technical mumbo jumbo were borderline embarrassing, but I liked the series overall.

Spoilers The Woman Who Fell to Earth grade and discussion thread

Whittaker was almost there, but didn't quite nail it for me. Very much felt like a performance, almost a throwback to the pre-reboot Doctors, and not in an especially good way. Overall plot wasn't terrible, but the script wasn't especially well written or clever either (setting up a deux ex...

    Captain Marvel (2019)

While I've really liked her in other performances, I'm just not seeing a whole lot going on here in the few moments they chose to feature in this trailer.

Spoilers Black Panther grade and discussion thread

Being a superhero movie isn't the albatross, it is the formulaic execution. Unfortunately, Black Panther does nothing to step outside of that formula. It is a complete mystery to me that anyone would think that this film, no matter how entertaining, is somehow deserving of being recognized as...

Tauriel: great idea or big mistake?

She was far from the worst part of those abominations. My preference for a single film would have been to just make some of the Dwarves female. Bearded female dwarves that Bilbo couldn't tell from the men and assumed they were all male.

    Disenchantment

Having Elfo obsessed/in love with with Bean is easily the worst part of the series thus far. They desperately need to expand the central cast so they can do away with it ASAP.

News Guardians of the Galaxy v3 indefinitely delayed

I tend to agree. There are some great moments in 2, but the way it is structured makes it all too predictable and even a bit boring for a good portion of the second act. .

News Guardians of the Galaxy v3 indefinitely delayed

They've got plenty of that. The release is still 8 months out.

News Guardians of the Galaxy v3 indefinitely delayed

He didn't write most of the first one, and I would argue it is the better film for it. I'm much more worried about them finding a director who suits the material. There are stronger writers than Gunn out there who can do the job, especially with his script to work from.

Outside human race/species romance in fiction

Familiarity plays a big part in what we find attractive, and there are a lot of people out there whose primary romantic/sexual interest doesn't originate in physical attraction. I find it plenty believable that people would be into sex with all manner of vaguely humanoid creatures if they could...

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

That still sounds pretty big, how about Guardians of the Grocery Store.

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

I don't remember this doom and gloom you speak of. After Age of Ultron I seem to recall the general consensus being something more like "eh." Finding a worthy successor is more the question than if they will need one at all. Feige has overseen 17 billion in box office returns for Marvel...

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

They could, but I don't think they'd make a very compelling one.

Looks fine on my end, maybe you need some clarification though?

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

To care about people they don't know having consensual sex in an alley? Those people should be putting their energy elsewhere. Not all toxic shit is created equal. I can think of worse reasons to make jokes: Normalizing racism. Intentionally hurting people. Ventriloquism.

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

I, for one, don't understand why anyone would care at all.

    Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

Points in the positive column: Looks like Venom. Acts like Venom. Voice is dead-on what I heard in my head reading the comics as a kid. Points in the negative column: Doesn't look like a good movie.

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

Only if you overlook the nuances of their motivation. I see Gunn's actions as more akin to those of Logan Paul in the Japanese suicide forest. Deplorable, but born from a place of insecurity and trying to entertain at all costs without considering the consequences. Roseanne appears to actually...

Disney fires James Gunn from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"

The tweets weren't explicitly apologized for in the way that the superheroes blog thing was with a big announcement, but he has repeatedly said in interviews that he regrets the way he presented himself and the things he said online back then. Rocket Raccoon has basically become his avatar for...

    Disenchantment

I'll give it a shot when they get to the second season and have sorted out the cast and chemistry a bit.
