Not sure how the response will be on this as it's a fairly niche topic, but I've been trying to find out how the original Star Trek was produced and transferred to video for broadcasting but haven't found much on the subject.
As I understand it, the show was shot, edited and finished on 35mm...
"It's sad to see this rip-off series going on the air, particular for us fans who have been there from the beginning."
"I think he should have named it something else, maybe Star Fleet, because the new show will be so obviously different from the original."
"Outranged fans are beseching...
New fan, excuse my ignorance. Was Nemesis always expected to be the final TNG film or were they planning to do a fifth movie with the cast until they saw the box office numbers? What was fandom thinking/saying at the time?
I remember reading somewhere that Meyer said that he actually preferred the theatrical versions to these films, or at least one or the other, and that the added scenes were only there so they could re-release it under the label of "Director's Edition".
Is that true or false? Can anyone...
All live-action shots were taken from first-generation 35mm film elements, but the original effects shots seem to have been taken from another source if I've heard correctly (not talking about the CGI remastered effects).
Were the original effects shots taken from later generation film...

There's also this! Nicholas Meyer to write the second episode of the show!
Is this the same "Number One" that's played by Majel Barrett in The Cage?
How does this character turn into a black or latina female?
Starts August 3, ends August 7.
I was half-expecting to hear casting news at Comic-Con, and if not there, at least here at the official Las Vegas 50th Anniversary convention.
Nobody's even talking about it though. Anything I missed? Or are we just going to have to wait longer?

In terms of Canada:
If I haven't been misled, TOS was originally shot on 35mm film, live-action shots and special effects included, right? That's what made the HD remaster so easy compared to TNG (outside of the new CGI effects that were added).
But other than that, I have little to no knowledge of how shows back...
I heard these are the two of two canon novels in the Star Trek universe, and since I'm watching VOY at the moment, I thought I may as well add these to my watch-through (at their appropriate times).
Any problems starting with these?
I'm slightly confused when it comes to this.
The Blu-rays definitely look very soft in many of the films, the digital enhancements and unnatural smoothness are most noticeable in Star Trek III and VI, but I still would say they're better than the DVDs.
Did they just uprez the DVDs to 1080p and...
All six shows were just added this morning! Great news!
Once Netflix began hunting down proxies, it was a pain in the ass trying to watch all of the shows.
Possibly a hint for where the new series will be airing in Europe?
Just thinking about it, after these TOS reboots run their course, which may be sooner than later with most of the cast only contracted for three films (as well as Anton Yelchin's untimely death), Paramount Pictures will have no where else to go with Star Trek on the big-screen.
Even though it'd...
It is not at all common knowledge that of Star Trek IV there exist two versions - the original version and the European version.
Star Trek III was not as successful in every country as it was in America. In some countries the movie even was released on VHS only. So the producers feared that the...
