    Weirdest Trek novel

Inspired by the "Ishmael" thread. You gotta admit that a Trek/HCTB crossover is pretty weird. But it isn't the only weird Trek novel. "How Much For Just the Planet" with its musical interludes is pretty bizarre too. What is your pick for most weird/offbeat/oddball Trek novel?

    Best cover art

We all come into this thread and discuss the merits of Trek Lit. But I don't remember any discussions of cover art. You may not be able to judge a book by its cover but, dang it, you can judge the cover. So do it. I'll come back later and give you my choice.

City on the Edge of Forever-A question

It occurs to me that there is a bit of a paradox in this episode that I never realized until now. The encounter between Edith Keeler and the truck occurred three times. The original unaltered timeline, the version where McCoy saves her life, and the final version (the only one we actually...

"The Janus Gate" by L.A. Graf

Went to a massive used book sale this last weekend an found a copy of this. All three paperbacks collected into a single hardcover. Never seen this before and I used to look at the Trek book section religiously. Can someone (or someones) give me some info on what I've got here?

"The Making of Star Trek"-The Movie

No, nothing to do with ST: TMP but rather a movie or mini-series based (loosely) around the book "The Making of Star Trek". On another board I frequent a poster noted that Paramount has, between the casts of SNW and JJTrek, all the elements in place to do a production of the origins of Trek...

Non Starfleet personnel on the Enterprise.

We saw such folks in TNG, (Guinan, Ben, Mr. Mott). Were there any such non-Starfleet personnel ever shown on TOS. I can see folks taking turns serving duty in the lounge but were any crewmembers cross-trained as barbers? Who did Uhura's and Rand's (rather elaborate) hair? Were there other...

    What would happen?

Read on another website that actress Carol Lynley had passed away. Someone noted that, among her other roles, she played the girlfriend of reporter Carl Kolchak in the original "Nightstalker" TV movie. Well, I pointed out that she was also the girlfriend of Christopher George's character, Ben...

Best Book for a Specific Character

Pretty much self-explanatory. Name an ST character, then a novel that, in your opinion, best showcases that character. Here we go: Leonard McCoy, "Crucible 1-Provenance of Shadows".

    One more time for "Timeless"

If you liked the time travel show "Timeless" (or even if you didn't) it's coming back with a one-shot movie this Thursday to resolve that end of series cliff-hanger. Just thought folks would like to know.

    Iron Man suit stolen.......

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/robert-downey-jr-s-original-iron-man-suit-stolen-135926320.html That actually happened in "Tales of Suspense" No. 65. The suit was stolen by a petty criminal (not so petty anymore). Stark had to dig up his old Gold armor suit to fight him.

Is it time for a dedicated "Orville" sub-forum?

    Self-explanatory.

Twilight Zone fans-does this seem familiar?

Here's a link to a comic book from 1952, seven years before TZ aired an episode called "And When the Sky was Opened". http://readcomiconline.com/Comic/Strange-Tales-1951/Issue-3?id=33318 Interesting coincidence.....or is it?

May I suggest an art challenge?

With a new series coming it seems an ideal chance for folks to do concept art. Since we know nothing now about the new series, you'd be free to follow any path, serious or funny. Ships, crew, promotional posters, whatever.

    Favorite non-canon ship

Star Trek fans have been designing their own ST ships since TOS. What are your favorites? Judged by "coolness factor" and fitting into the ST universe.

    ST and The Twilight Zone

I recently watched the TZ episode "No Time Like the Past" (also the title of the most recent Greg Cox ST novel) for the first time in decades and was struck by how much of a "City on the Edge of Forever" vibe I got from it. Anybody else want to draw comparisons between ST and TZ?
