Instead of creating a thread for each new thing I model, I figured I'd just make a master thread and dump everything here. The past couple of years on and off, I've been working on a Star Trek fan teaser trailer...not fan film. I figure I can push out cinema quality stuff if it's only a minute...

We really didn't get many starships in the films that weren't Kelvin kitbashes, so I am making some new ones. This is my own design, U.S.S. Tyson. Built after the 1701, but before the 1701-A. The bottom isn't really detailed because it will not be seen in my project.

For those of you who aren't already aware, I am working on a CGI "fan teaser trailer" of a 4th possible Kelvin Timeline movie involving the Doomsday Machine. The problem I had was making it be recognizable as the Doomsday Machine, without looking kind of 60s cheesy. I hope I hit an ok balance...

So here is my fully CG recreation of a Regula 1 shot from Wrath of Khan. My aim was to match the same vintage look as a 1982 VFX shot, not a modern one. I was seeing how close I could make a CG shot match miniature work. To that end, I had to take into account a few considerations...

I WILL go back to finish up the Salcombe soon, but I wanted a "simple" project to work on for the week. I almost bit off more than I could chew with the Salcombe, as my modeling skills are still beginnerish. This is two evenings work. I'm going for Smithsonian accuracy for this.

I need more Kelvin timeline ships for my project, so I figured why not make a Salcombe! We don't get a good look at this thing at all in Beyond. It's seen VERY briefly in the background, but it's a really cool design. So I wanted to create a high quality VFX model that can give us a better...

Chris Kuhn made this lovely CG model of the Excelsior, so I couldn't help but make a beauty flyby.

A CG artist by the name of Marc Bell created this beautiful Discovery model, and I couldn't resist doing a flyby with it. I wanted a long slow pan across the ship, as these types of shots are rare in Discovery.
