Instead of creating a thread for each new thing I model, I figured I'd just make a master thread and dump everything here. The past couple of years on and off, I've been working on a Star Trek fan teaser trailer...not fan film. I figure I can push out cinema quality stuff if it's only a minute and a half or so. Due to minor depression, covid, and having to move to a new place, I lost some productivity time on it last year. Sometimes you just get burned out and don't want to work on it, ya know? Anyway, this will be my asset thread to get feedback, suggestions, and critique. Starting off, today I've been working on a travel pod that will be in service at Sagan Observatory at L-374 IV (uh oh). Based on unused concept art by John Eaves for Star Trek 2009. I went with Pod D, but made slight design changes. And a few miscellaneous things at various stages of completion. 1701-A Bridge PCAP wall graphic interface. Based on 2009 and Into Darkness, but more punchy colors. Doomsday machine concept art by Justin Banner. VFX asset by me. 1701-A Corridor as of Jan 2021. (Subject to change) U.S.S. Salcombe as seen in Star Trek Beyond's closing scene. Not complete. U.S.S. Realta as seen in Star Trek Fleet Command. (Complete) U.S.S. Tyson designed by Justin Banner, Dave Combe, Jack SP, and myself. (Complete) Standard issue starship Escape Pod (2267) (Complete) 1701-A arrives at L-374 IV shortly after receiving a distress call from Sagan Observatory. (In this universe, the Constellation was not on patrol in this sector) Fun fact, the destroyed husk of L-374 IV is in fact a physical model 12" in diameter instead of a CGI sculpt.
Nice stuff! Looking forward to your progress! I've always wanted to do some scenes, but my texture/lighting skills are.. well.. mild crap.. Owell.
Wow! Inspiring stuff, to say the least! I also love the physical prop - looks amazing! PixelMagic: keeping the Kelvin Timeline alive beautifully! Bad Robot should hire you on the spot
Gorgeous. Course, in reality, the planet would immediate collapse back into a crudely spherical shape.
Ever so good seeing all of this together in one place! Looking back on this, I'm so thankful you managed to extrapolate that model from my rather impressionistic concept pieces of the Planet Killer. Really magical stuff, that.
Didn't feel like working on the travel pod the past couple of days, so instead, here is the foundation of the 1701-A bridge. Not sure how I feel about the chairs. We'll see.
Love it, especially that travel pod. I think driving one of them would be a mad gig for regular joes in Starfleet.
Like the start of the bridge! Question, on the travel pod, the back looks like the same as the Tmp pod, are you going to add the locking ring and doors like the old travel pod?
Wasn't happy with my previous floor layout, so I just started all over. It was too similar to the 1701. I'm feeling this one more, so I will continue with it.
