News New Game - Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown

Janeway: A direct course to Earth is too long (never mind that Kirk went to the center of the galaxy a century ago, I assume someone blew up a bunch of Omega particles between then and now). I suggest that we go the opposite direction, to the galactic barrier. Presumably someone on this ship...

News Exclusive: Scott Bakula Eyeing Star Trek Return In President Archer Series Pitch From ‘Enterprise’ Producer

This is why I have a hard time believing that Colbert was canceled for low ratings. We have them churning out NCIS and its needless spinoffs, but Colbert suddenly gets dropped?

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

For a Captain of a health spa, IMO. Spock and Scotty were long-sleeved throughout while on the ship. I wish Kirky and Uhura had been similarly so. I'd prefer all out nudity to the shortsleeves, but there goes the G-rating.

    "Essential Legends" of Trek?

And a "Point of Order" is a highly privileged incidental motion calling attention to a breach of parliamentary procedure. Not of syntax or semantics. ;):p:D At any rate, post rephrased.

News Exclusive: Scott Bakula Eyeing Star Trek Return In President Archer Series Pitch From ‘Enterprise’ Producer

The problem isn't the format. The problem is that anyone who actually has an interest in seeing the Romulan War will have a preconceived notion based on 50+ years of Star Trek as to how the war happened. And whatever they make will invariably not live up to those expectations. I don't believe...

News Exclusive: Scott Bakula Eyeing Star Trek Return In President Archer Series Pitch From ‘Enterprise’ Producer

...I have no idea if he ever actually showed up in it or not, but if he did, I could bet my next paycheck that one episode probably had the best ratings of the whole series. That's why reboots are so insanely risky. Will you "capture lightning in a bottle" and build something new that can...

    Legends of the Phoenix

Author's notes: This was written as part of the Trek BBS July-September 2025 Challenge and takes place in 2393. They first learn of a threat in 2379 to later deal with in 2404 in the "Celestial Dynamics" arc. Crew rosters can be found at the Hyperion Shipyards. July-September 2025 Challenge...

    Revisiting Star Trek Continues...

I think that seems to be true of a lot of projects in general now. Once people start shelling out money there is also a lot more pressure on the project to deliver something in a timely fashion. Which can affect quality especially when they drag on for years after the initial crowdfund and...

    Revisiting Star Trek Continues...

This has been very interesting! STC crewmember here. As such it wouldn't be appropriate to participate very much in the thread, as analysis is best when it comes from outside. Any counterpoints to criticisms would just seem defensive, and any agreement (and I have more than you might expect!)...

Spoilers A Complete (I Hope) DISCO Rewatch

Context is a relevatory episode. At the time I wasn't totally sure where it would go, but it's clear with the new rule allowing conflict and drama, the show was creating a starting point for it to build to something...not only a message, but as it would turn out, a reiteration of Trek after a...

MLB 2025: The A's are Playing Where Now?

That won’t be good for postseason ratings. I have my doubts about his plan.

    Terence Stamp has died

Which has a completed sequel soon to be released, with Stamp. I haven't checked yet to verify Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce are also on board again. Very soon.... As a kid, I saw SUPERMAN in a Dolby theater early 1979, so I hadn't yet mastered the specifics of British pronounciation. However, I...

Star Trek: Lower Decks - CF086 - "Let Sleeping Cyborgs Lie"

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

You would have Trek sealed in amber and stuck in the 1960s. Show business is just that ... a BUSINESS. Money is an issue in our world. Why must characters necessarily be "likable"? Think about characters like Tony Soprano or Walter White (Breaking Bad). What about Dirty Harry or Travis...

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

...Star trek tradition and who is not pessimistic and destructive when it comes to storytelling, and an ego-maniac only interesterd in money, ratings and how to put their own mark on the product. I liked Voyager in the first three seasons, not only because of Kes but because it had a good...

Poll Is Star Trek: Khan khanon?

Odd, I never got that vibe at all. And not just one appearance; to the best of my recollection, Majel voiced her consistently that way. I remember a "B-plot" that ADF gave to one of his "Star Trek Log" books, involving all Caitans on board going into heat at the same time, and running amuck...
