Gene was really only personally responsible for TOS, TMP, and the first couple years of TNG. TOS is my favorite but the TOS movies and later TNG (plus scattered excellent Ds9 episodes and the solid streaming shows today) probably create a higher volume of "quality content".
In Bread and Circuses and quite a few other episodes it's pretty directly implied Kirk has sex, which isn't much more than what ever happened on TNG. Don't see how there's any more skin in those TNG episodes than some of what was on TOS with the skimpy outfits for the female guest stars and of...
TNG was and is by any estimation a family show. Outside of Conspiracy only mild violence (and most episodes have none) and any sexual content was very tame even by 80's standards. TOS had considerably more sensuality on it (Orion strip show, Kirk blatantly having sex in several episodes) and...
A lot of the stuff in the OP are things that were minor, one episode plot points on TOS that got expanded to multi episode arcs here. That's not so much "improvement" as it is focusing on different things. Like, in Journey to Babel saying that Spock turned down the Vulcan Science Academy was a...
If you want to say TOS is a close second to TNG I could live with it but anyone who has it that low has no business writing about ST professionally.
Anyway, going with the tier list
S-tier- TOS
A- TNG
B- Ds9, Disco, SNW
Voyager and Enterprise are in the D to F range. NS Picard and the...
If I recall for the tribble episode of Ds9 they intended to do the closing credits like that with scenes from the episode underneath the gold letters, but it took so long to edit with all the trick photography that they were completely out of time when the episode was ready to air and didn't...
Wow, that Bread and Circuses set looks so dinky from a distance and without all the lights. They had to just make it work on 60's TV
TNG bridge just needed more colors. Red highlights like on the TOS bridge would have done a lot.
If someone just made deepfake videos of coworkers which were clearly jokes and weren't publicly distributed I don't see why you should get fired for that. His Three Musketeers thing falls more or less into that category. Actually using real people as sex holograms would obviously be completely...
I have made this suggestion before but I think Tasha might have turned out better if they'd had her at the helm and had Worf and Geordi in their traditional roles from the start. She would have fit as the hotshot pilot and having her next to Data on the bridge would have developed that...
Yeah, I think Hollow Pursuits is a decent episode, but they just refused to let him have any character development and would undo whatever progress he made in his last appearance.
One thing to note about the holoaddiction thing is that holodecks were relatively new in TNG, no one appeared to...
Not in any critical mass and the data supports that. I was there at the time, the only people watching it were established Trek fans, a lot of normies didn't even know there was a Star Trek show on anymore because the ratings were so bad (and admittedly UPN did a half assed job promoting it too)
