I agree. This had all the hallmarks of a great Trek episode. The near death scene between Burnham and Saru was really well done by both actors.

I've always thought this too. Throughout the series, Q has mentioned that humanity is progressing faster than we (the Q Continuum) expected. He alluded to that in Q-Who but I think the idea was raised in Farpoint and possibly Hide and Q too.

Generally speaking the biggest standout to me in HD is the amazing quality of all of the physical models. I watched "Reunion" the other day which was the debut of the Klingon Attack Cruiser and it looks incredible.

Finally got around to this one. i'm totally okay with not having greater context and backstory and enjoyed it for what it was: a very well-acted, emotional 18 minute human journey the way Trek does best.

I thought they really nailed her makeup in by the time early season 6 came around. I think she had more of a tan/bronzer as well. Compare that early S6 shot that's been posted above with something from S3 when she was white as a ghost.

The HD upgrade made a HUGE difference, but I agree that S 3-7 look the best by today's standards. The default set lighting and film stock used in S1 and 2 make me immediately associate it with 80s. I remember watching the S3 opener back in the day and everything felt "fresher."

I'm still holding out for AGT. Honestly that's the only other one I'd really wanna see in the theater.
