Spoilers TF: Revelation and Dust by DRGIII Review Thread

I had two long bus rides this weekend and finished Revelation and Dust and The Crimson Shadow, in about two sittings apiece. I appear to be in the relative minority here who was very pleased with Revelation and Dust. It felt to me, as it has to others, as the “re-relaunch” of DS9 and also as...

    Star Trek: TITAN: Animated Series

Absolutely amazing, Geoff and Nerys! I'm blown away. Ree reminds me a bit of Zorak from Space Ghost, so I almost laughed when I saw him. Definitely looking forward to more of these!

David Webers Honor Harrington Series of Books

Pat Givens, head of ONI; I'll add D'Orville (commander of home fleet), Admiral Theodosia Kusak for other military officers to that list. I'll also suggest the Duke of Cromerty, William Alexander (I'm up to Ashes of Victory in my rereading and I only think he met her once. Aside from the fact...

NCIS: "Semper Fidelis" 5/12 - Grading & Discussion

I hope they don't kill Ziva. Other than the fact that I like the chemistry between her and Tony, I think that they've had a lot of "season finale deaths" -- already two out of the last five seasons. Maybe that's just hindsight, but it feels like a lot. I also thought the "up the tree" joke was...

Star Treks makes US$26 million on Saturday

I'll be going again in another few hours as well. This is very exciting to watch and be a part of!

    Dollhouse: "Omega" (1x12)

While it wasn't quite as... exciting as I hoped for (and maybe that's mostly because it's hard to top Star Trek, the finale was a fairly good one IMO. It wasn't really a cliffhanger/suspenseful ending, sure, but it has to potentially serve as a series finale, so they had to wrap up a lot.

    Dollhouse: "Briar Rose" (1x11)

Some more scattered thoughts: I hadn't realized Espenson wrote a Firefly episode... I'll have to rewatch that one now... Part of me hops it's not Victor, because I like what they've done with him. I didn't even realize he was the mob guy from early in the show, either. But now that he's...

    Dollhouse: "Briar Rose" (1x11)

That was awesome. I didn't find it draggy at all, though the presentation felt a bit more like an episode of Battlestar Galactica than Firefly (which I guess makes sense given that Jane Espenson wrote it) -- but it's a presentation I'm comfortable with. That is, you're presented with a plot...

Possible covers and info for upcoming books (spoilers obviously)

When I read the description for Synthesis, my first thought was that the AI planet gives Titan some level of artificial sentience, which sounds really cool. I love what the authors have been doing to push the Trek technology forward. As to the cover, I'm not too thrilled. I know it's likely an...

    The Romulan Prize

Pretty much the same situation for me. One of my first Trek novels, which I remember liking a lot (also a Romulan fan), but I also don't remember anything specific -- something about a huge warbird. I have been toying with the idea of rereading it as I recently got a copy for my collection.

    A Singular Destiny backcover text!!!

^^^ Somehow that's not surprising coming from a man with a dethroned Hynerian as a avatar...

    A Singular Destiny backcover text!!!

I think in one of the other threads someone mentioned it sounding like a Vulcan/Bajoran hybrid and KRAD responded something like "he he he" or an equally suggestive non-answer. To me, the Sonek definitely sounds Vulcan, not sure about Pran

    A Singular Destiny backcover text!!!

That looks phenomenal! Could this herald the possibility of exploring Sonek's past or future adventures?

How many words is a typical trek novel?

By title, do you mean the title, such as "Star Trek: Worlds of Deep Space Nine: Andor: Paradigm" (3) or the entire manuscript? (n)?

That just made my day. :)

How many words is a typical trek novel?

Hehe. My undergraduate advisor said the same thing. I know it's completely off-topic, but I :adore: LaTeX. Er, right. Anyway... Good to know about the progression, since I'm just starting my MS/Ph.D program. Well, I remember about 10 years ago when the guidelines specified about 70k words as...

House 5x05 "Lucky Thirteen" - Discussion and Spoilers

Good episode, though it left me feeling rather sad. I also liked the near-development for 13 (it's interesting that they note that her disease is progressing faster rather than slower). The interaction between Foreman / 13 was also interesting to watch. I almost felt them starting to bond a...

    Anything on Sela? [Minor Spoilers]

Given the relatively few number of books seen since DIW and that the near future of the post-Nemesis series will be focusing on "Cleaning Up Mack's Mess" I doubt we'll hear from Sela anytime soon. She's one of the villains I like, but only in small doses. It just seems to suit her better than...

    Favorite Stand Alone?

Another vote for Fallen Heroes and A Stitch In Time. I also particularly enjoyed Reunion and War Drums from TNG. Nothing coming to mind in TOS or VOY at the moment, but my reading in those series is less than in the others... I'd also add Q-Squared to the list except for the no PAD rule (though...
