Troi: Chin up, Geordi. Your eyesight isn't everything. And Beverly's said she's sorry. I mean, really, who could've known that it was a bad idea for a doctor to do 'tequila slammers' 2 hours before performing a delicate laser eye procedure?
Beverly (drunk): Yeeah, so.....shuddup....'less you...
Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre
Loved this show! Can't remember when I started watching it exactly but I would have been in my teens.
Always preferred Mike to Joel (although that may be partly to seeing the Mike-era episodes first)
I think there are...
I don't disagree with what your saying, of course Constantine in particular went through this same process when it first started (remember all those statement that we won't get to see him smoking on on the show? And by the end of the season he was puffing away like a chimney!)
The thing is I...
Alien
It's still one of my all time favourite films and not just in the horror/Sci-Fi genre but overall.
Aliens is a great film as well but it never quite managed to topple the first film from it's pedestal in my opinion.
Never really bothered with 3 or Resurrection and if I'm honest I've...
As a huge fan of the Mike Carey comic I was quite looking forward to seeing Lucifer developed for a TV series.
Then I read that he'd be a consultant for the LAPD helping a Homicide Detective solve crimes and punish criminals and my interest suddenly evaporated.
If they make a Pilot, I'll watch...
Archer "I'm gonna' kill you where you stand! You sunnova bitch!"
Trip "Wha! Why?"
Archer "Because it's more convenient than killing you somewhere else! Dammit man, don't ask stupid questions!"
This is a fascinating discussion. To be honest I haven't posted in this forum for years and the times that I did I was always very, very critical of the show but I never felt that my criticisms were unfair or unjustified, but ENT frustrated me because I wanted it to be better than it was, I...
Absolutely!
For exchanges as good as this:
Frank: "Is there a ransom note?"
Ed: "Yes, the butler found it; it was tied to this window and thrown into the rock garden. I sent the note to the lab; they're demanding one million dollars."
Frank: "Why would the lab demand a million dollars?"...
Frank: I'd known her for years. We used to go to all the police functions together. Ah, how I loved her, but she had her music. I think she had her music. She'd hang out with the Chicago Male Chorus and Symphony. I don't recall her playing an instrument or being able to carry a tune. Yet she was...
I didn't see the gunshot as Watson murdering the man without cause or in cold blood. Watson knew that this man was able to convince four complete strangers to take their own lives via lethal poison. As soon as Watson saw Sherlock and the cabbie in the building opposite he knew exactly what was...
Re: Hallowe'en Reading and Viewing, 2010!
Well I managed to get hold of a copy of the 1989 TV movie of The Woman in Black and watched it with a friend when we decided to have a Hallowe'en-themed night in.
We both enjoyed it immensely, and pretty much "jumped" at the same time when it got the...
Re: Hallowe'en Reading and Viewing, 2010!
Yeah I think I have a pretty good idea of the scene you're referring to.
As for it being on youtube, I'll have a look for it (that's actually how I ended up watching The Stone Tape another Kneale gem, which is out of print)
Speaking of which...
Re: Hallowe'en Reading and Viewing, 2010!
I've just started reading Susan Hill's The Woman in Black, I'm about half-way through it and so far it's turning out to be the quintessential ghost story.
Apparently ITV made it in to a one off drama scripted by Nigel Kneale (creator of Quatermass)...
That is strange.
Have you also noticed this series that the phrase "perception filter" has been mentioned more than a few times in various episodes? Almost like the characters (or us viewers maybe?) aren't seeing all the details that should be obvious .
Its rare I post in this forum (if ever) but I just wanted to chime in and say how much I loved this episode (indeed this whole series). I've never been as invested in RTD era Who as I have been in this current series.
I thought this episode was fantastic and I also enjoyed the way the...
Blade Runner (obviously)
For me its tricky to pick one favourite film as, to me, it applies to any film that you don't need to be in a particular mood to watch (you can just watch it whenever and still enjoy it)
In which case I would also have to add:
Chinatown
Withnail & I
Dark City...
That actually looks pretty interesting (albeit slightly generic in terms of set up and character types), I will probably check it out when it airs.
I didn't realize Idris Elba was playing the lead, thought he was great in The Wire (and I haven't heard him use his natural accent since...
