Spoilers Spider-Noir discussion thread

Finished the series last night. Nic Cage definitely makes the show better than it should be. It was nice seeing Andrew Robinson too. I just didn't like the story or any of the villains. I had a really difficult time paying attention and often found myself zoning out and missing a few minutes here and there every episode. I really wanted to like this show, but it's just not for me.

Watched it in black and white of course. There is so much I like about it. I love film noir, pulp heroes, Nic Cage is fantastic. There's something imperfect about it though. It doesn't feel like a modern streaming show. But I kinda wonder if it's intentional. And it's not because it's set in the 1930s.

The name Ben Riley is far more fitting for a film noir character but there are hints in the show that he changed his name after Germany.

I started watching in black and white but in episode 3, I started having a weird issue where the sound and the picture weren't synced up properly so I switched over to color. I was so impressed with the color that I alternated between color and black and white for the rest of the series.

i still wonder if spider noir is related to the animated sony spiderverse movies

because in the sony spider man spiderverse animated movies nick cage does the voice of the spider aka spider man 1930s

The color version from what i've seen looks unnatural and oversaturated.

Right. Thats what they were going for. Early technicolor movies from the 30s and 40s often looked that way. I haven't watched that version yet. I might check it out later. I am enjoying it in black and white though. It was filmed in B&W and I think the color data was saved while they filmed it in digital to produce the oversaturated look you're noticing.

And just as how the color version of Marvel's Werewolf by Night was very much influenced by the use of color in the Hammer Pictures horror films in the late 50s through the 60s. Definitely worth checking out at least once.
Yeah, I still need to do that but I love the black and white version so much. It has become a Halloween tradition so perhaps this year I will watch it in color.

I just watched the first two episodes, they are good.
I watched the first episode in B and W en the second in color, it both looks great. Warm colors, one time you see a couch and it even looks soft. So for now I can't decide how I am going to watch the third episode
