Fantastic! Looking forward! Two questions that I would like to see answered in a week: a)will there be new opening titles scene, like the first eight films, and b)when will the Extended Version come out? Again, looking forward and thanks!
Hi. I´m using the remastered 1080p Blu-Ray, https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Star-Trek-Nemesis-Blu-ray/332119/#Screenshots, as base with lossless quality.
A- For now I didn´t include a new opening titles scene but is something that crossed my mind so I´m thinking on include it in the Extended Cut. B- The Extended Cut should come out in 3-4 months. Standard Version will be ready in 1 month hopefully
Do you plan to do a 4K cut eventually, or will you release the individual scenes for someone else to use for upscaling to 4K and integration with the 4K Blu-ray? Being able to watch in 4K Dolby Vision with the extended scenes would be ideal. Also, will the extended cut include all available deleted scenes?
Hi. I will release the edit in 4K with Dolby Vision but that will need a little more time. About the deleted scenes, there will be 6-7 scenes included in the Extended Cut, so some of the avaliable deleted scenes won´t make it for that cut. Reasons to not include all of them are too bad source quality or overall edit pace/editing issues.
Wesley Crusher scene, Beverly Crusher going to Starfleet Academy, Extended dialogues in "Shinzon presentation scene in the Scimitar" and "Crusher and Picard discussing young Picard". The other scenes are not confirmed but also not discarded for the Extended Cut.
I would be interested in a superextended cut including those. There's still an additional half hour of deleted scenes never seen by the public.
I need to go back and re-read my copy of Nemesis' revised shooting script because I've always been doubtful of that "additional half hour" of deleted material. The script itself is only 113 pages, which is shorter than the other TOS/TNG movie scripts. I think what people keep misunderstanding is that Berman's comments probably referred to an assembly cut or other earlier version of the film that predated the fine cut. So really, that extra 30 minutes is gonna be a lot of fat that got trimmed off the movie - entrances, exits, etc. Not necessarily plot.
I agree. That's almost always the case when some "super extended" mythical version of a film gets touted.
It’s been a long time since I read that script too, are there any full length scenes left in it that are not included in any of the deleted scenes packages that were released? I remember missing trims of existing scenes, like a longer version of Data singing at the wedding where Riker joins him on stage with a trombone, and the odd line here and there like the bizarre “just me, myself and Lore” line when Data is asked how many Soong-type androids he was aware of. Agree that there’s unlikely to be 30 minutes of meaningful unseen content out there.
There is also some footage from the Teaser Trailer that never made it to the finished movie and it´s not included in any deleted scenes.
I just had a look at it and nothing jumped out at me. How about a reminder for my increasingly addled brain?
I remember the shot with Worf’s “I recommend extreme caution” line in the trailer had finished effects. Always wondered if other deleted scenes got as far as having finished effects, or if that shot was just completed for the trailer. Hard to say as it looks like the deleted scenes on the DVDs etc were just taken from Berman’s copy of a workprint, and we don’t really know what was worked on beyond when that cut was created.
And also Dorn's actual speaking voice. As opposed to the weird decision to electronically deepen it in the film.
Different camera angles and some unfinished shots of the Scimitar. I think 00:38 , 00:57, 01:01 or 01:05 for example were not in the finished movie.
