Spoilers Lord of the Rings TV series

UK does have some picturesque locations across Wales, Scotland and Northern England. Admittedly, not as dramatic as NZ, though. They could also be filming at various castles, which I don't think NZ has many of. The plotline as written might be dictating the filming sites. Either way, it is definitely an interesting development.

Who says they want to reboot the movies?
And one other bit of news we heard a few months ago was that a horse died during the production, but I think it was just do to natural causes and not any kind of abuse or neglect.

The strikes will have to end first, I guess. Even if filmed in parts of the world where they don't reach, a lot of actors, writers and other professionals probably can't contribute.

Do Canada, the UK and other locales recognize the strike stipulations or are they continuing with their own unaffiliated casts, writers and crews, business as usual?

I trust Google about as much as I trust most click bait.

But, if true (heavy salt dose) why not?
I think the biggest question is when all this came up there was never a firm confirmation from anywhere the LOTR or the Hobbit would be remade. There hasn't been anything from Warner Brothers (which now has the book rights)...

but I think considering they are remaking Harry Potter about 2 decades later, it wouldn't be a shock to see them do the same for LOTR. I don't think they paid money to acquire the rights to the books just to make a Silm movie, or Lost Tales, or create something early 4th Age.

Going to make it difficult to put the usual disclaimer in the credits though. "No animals were deliberately harmed in the making of this production - only coincidentally due to natural causes."
I know you were joking, but I'm not sure how that works. I went back to reread one of the articles about what happened, and they said the horse had a cardiac arrest while it was tied up, and that it hadn't shown any signs of being sick before that. So since there were not filming, and the production wasn't responsible for what happened, it might not count for something like that.

You just know that people will call them out, perhaps unjustly, if the credits include the standard claim that no animals were harmed during the making of the production, which doesn't only count time on set being filmed. That's the way of the world.

“The Rings of Power” shifted production from New Zealand to the U.K. for the eight-episode second season

So no New Zealand back drops for LOTR? That's a choice...

They probably have plenty of B-roll footage by this point

That's probably true, PETA was already demanding that no movie or TV series ever use horses again.
