Was Spock in Voyager?
Why isn't Leonard Nimoy credited in the opening or closing credits?
He never appeared but he was directly or indirectly referenced several times.
Is that normal for brief clip appearance?
I doubt it. A high percentage, yes, but the story of the last years the show is telling is withdrawal from the Federation, frowning on expansion, protecting home cultures, etc., by Earth and Vulcan. I don’t think Star Trek has ever told the story of the ordinary Joes who preferred to stay home and marry someone of the same species and live like their ancestors did. Most people are not going to be Trip Tucker and T’Pol from Enterprise or Spock’s parents Sarek and Amanda or Gabriel Hwang and Pel from Picard, though descendants of some or all of those people are probably living on Ni’var and could be encountered by Burnham. Spock married, as Picard went to his wedding, and it was likely to Saavik.
The series has been inconsistent as to whether medical intervention is required for hybrids. Tom Paris and B’Elanna Torres conceived their 3/4 human, 1/4 Klingon daughter naturally on Voyager and Alexander, the 3/4 Klingon, 1/4 human son of Worf and hybrid K'Ehleyr was also conceived naturally on The Next Generation. Sela on TNG was probably also conceived naturally as it’s doubtful that her Romulan father would have gone to the trouble of medical intervention to conceive with his human concubine Tasha Yar.

I don't think it works that way for pre-existing footage. They also didn't credit Ethan Peck, or the actors who played young Burnham and Spock.
I keep seeing that Spock probably married Saavik but outside of novels I don't really see that happening. Saavik having Spock's kid from ST3 pon farr was cut, and there's no indication from followup movies it's still canon. Also, the line was "Sarek's son" got married, although admittedly we know of none other than Spock alive as of Picard's attendance.
I actually find it more likely Spock married the Romulan Commander from the Enterprise Incident to be honest. He probably was living with her his whole time on Romulus.
Trek has indeed had ordinary Joes marrying aliens. Torres' parents for example. That's what makes it puzzling. We get the impression Torres' birth and Alexander's birth just happened after some nights without birth control, but considering the complicated procedures for interspecies hybrid births we see Hwang and Pel go through in Picard, it's not really consistent.
I do view the books as canon when it comes to Spock and Saavik. From a scientific perspective it’s unlikely that an alien-human hybrid is possible but on Trek it is possible. When you look at Enterprise or Voyager, where Humans are transformed by viruses into totally different species, and the genetic manipulation that the Klingons are capable of, it’s probably not surprising, Maybe alien-human natural conception is possible but the risk of complications is higher and requires close monitoring. TNG explained it with the episode where they found out humanoids had a distant common ancestor.
After almost 1000 years of a UFP, before the burn migration between planets should be as easy as migration from London to Glasgow, assuming they have open borders
Agreed. They have all these warp-powered shuttles and civilian transports as seen in TNG and DS9. Plus you might be able to use a transporter between two neighboring planets as well by the 30th century.
I loved this episode! I'm so glad Discovery is finally getting its space legs. It was so awesome to see the Vulcans and Romulans reunited even though there's still more unifying to be done. I had been hoping someone other than Tilly would be made first officer, but I have to admit I like how they went about it.
I mean, she was only made acting first. She questioned accepting the post and only took it after she had her peers support. The more I think about it, the more I realize Saru made the right choice. Out of all the crew other than himself, Tilly has adapted better than anyone else to their extraordinary new situation. She has shown more maturity, especially last week when she rightly advised Saru to report her best friend's insubordination which took a lot of guts and wisdom. Finally, despite having less experience than the rest of the senior staff, other than Saru or Burnham, no one else would be able to get the kind of support/public vote of confidence Tilly was given when her peers cheered her on to accepting the position. I also don't really have an issue with this because I highly suspect she is just keeping Burnham's seat warm until she's given another shot at being first officer.

To be fair, if we got to meet a sibling of some long past hero of ours, we would be enthralled a bit ourselves. Just imagine meeting, let's say, the brother of George Washington?
Why yes... Yes they could. That would have the unintended effect of cutting about 30 minutes off the episode!

This is one of the finest episodes of Discovery. Perhaps the finest overall.. That acting and the writing really has come into its own.
Burnham's emotional ride when she hears Vulcan was renamed, and then again when she finds out about the Romulan-Vulcan relation... and then again when she watches Spock's video from Unification II was overwhelming. Saru's perfect as always.
Going to the 32nd century turned an okay show into an amazing one.
And let me just say, naming Vulcan to Ni'Var,with that name's history and meaning, is perfect.
