It wasn't the spore drive itself, it was the presence of Culber in the network. That's why May was so hot to kill him.

Also, while the teaser bits in the preceding episodes, about the seemingly malicious May, sorta suggested that the Jah'Sepp are a big thing and the entire network is in mortal danger, the actual adventure establishes that the Jah'Sepp are just bit players, a species akin to earthworms of whom a local population was inconvenienced by Culber's attempts at self-preservation. If a zillion Culbers did their worst for a million years, the network probably still would be fine.

The Jah'Sepp might not be, but their sending May over to do something about it was dependent on that whole Mirror Universe adventure, and will not happen again. So they get no say.

The red signals have been explained as not the red angel - it was just assumed they came from one and the same. The signals brought them to places like new when. The red angel only in places where she dies. Two don’t go hand in hand.

FFS yeah. One of the worst things out of Season 1. You got a Klingon spy, you got a Tribble, yet the two never meet. Rrrr....

I latched onto the tiny clue about the crew suggesting the use of dark matter to stabilize Dr. Burnham at this specific point of space-time. Given that the first red burst lead them to dark matter, I'd still watch them closely, as they still might be related. Even if they weren't caused by her specifically, they seem to operate on the same basis, as the wormhole through which she appeared looked quite like a red burst. Who knows, we might see someone (her daughter, perhaps?) take the mantle in the future and find a way to travel through time even without the suit. I have a feeling we'll learn soon enough who created the red bursts and what their intentions were.

So it turns out we got an answer and yet, somehow, we still don't know.
