Sounds like a great series for the 50th anniversary--and I'm a huge Kruge fan as well! Can't wait.

This sounds awesome. :-) Were books your only sources (besides the shows/films), or did you also draw from any of the comics?

I watched The Search For Spock today when off work sick. First time in twenty years. Much better movie than I remember. I am looking forward to this now.

Hopefully Saavik will be in it. Seems like a good place to bring her out of retirement.

Unrelated: That poor actor who played David. I completely forgot how he lit up the screen. RIP.

^ I thought Saavik was still active as a starship commander at least as of Destiny. I swear we had a reference somewhere to her ship either there or in one of the post Destiny books.

I think there has been a reference or two post the icky marriage but I would like to see her as a more prominent character, hopefully.

I agree. She's a character so rich with potential, particularly transcending two eras as she does. I'd love to see her interact with Worf, especially considering their mutual...ah...fondness for Romulans.

Heh! I did dig into the comics on a particular subject, though again saying which ones and why would give something away. It'll be fun writing it all up when I do the production notes on my website (which I still have to do for Takedown, but it's had to wait until I get the trilogy finished).

    Kenobi was great!

I'll have to grab this trilogy once it hits shelves.

For those that have enjoyed JJM's Trek or Wars stuff, I recommend:
    • Knight Errant - Book and comics
    • Lost Tribe of the Sith Omnibus
    • Knights of the Old Republic - Comics

Knights of the Old Republic is the best ever Star Wars comic ongoing. Everything you could ever want from a Star Wars comics. Great characters, crazy scrapes, good jokes, Marn Hierogryph.

The only volume I wasn't a bug fan of was the last one, War. Not enough Gryph!

Is this going to be a pure Starfleet and Klingon Defense Force novel, or will we see some of the Federation and Klingon governments? Ever since The Fall, I've been waiting to see how the new Federation President, Kellesar zh’Tarash, and her staff interact with the Trek-verse.

Also, will this series touch on the crew of the I.K.S. Gorkon, because I've been waiting ever since A Singular Destiny to see what's become of General Klag, QaS DevwI’ Wol, Dr. B'Oraq, and the rest of the crew.

Sorry I've been away -- was busy wrapping the third book. But the trilogy is now complete. Absolutely delighted with how it turned out.

To answer the most recent question, there is plenty of action at both the high levels and on individual ships. As to individual characters, I drew on a huge range of sources, and there are quite a few surprises in store. More as we get closer... but I would suggest that this is a storyline where spoiler avoidance will definitely enhance enjoyment.

And back to Jedi Ben's comment: yeah, I wanted more Gryph, too. My marching orders on that miniseries was that it was to be a Zayne solo tale. The military sequence was definitely always intended to be part of the ongoing storyline, but it would've had the other characters in a running subplot. This actually matches what happened with "Vector" -- editorial wanted that one to be just the two principal characters, with the rest of the cast off panel. It's kind of a pattern in comics: about every two or three years books about teams will tend to do an arc just on one or two characters, to let the new readers on board more easily. (I did propose a KOTOR series to follow "War," by the way -- but by that time I was focusing more on prose, and even if it had become a reality the license would have changed hands before it got very far along.)

I think you are thinking of how Tuvok delivered Saavik's greeting in TTN - Taking Wing. Post-Destiny novels have not referred to Saavik.

I just checked Memory Beta and that is the last thing on there about her, so I guess you're right and I must have just gotten my books mixed up. Hopefully she survived Destiny.

I know loads of fans can't wait for the TOS-trilogy this year, because of the 50th, and I'm looking forward to that as well. But right now, Prey has really got me excited. :D

I thought the plot to Takedown was a little pedestrian but I was really impressed with Miller's prose. I usually read the books before giving them to my dad -- I phoned him and told him how much I liked the writing in that one. So I'm all aboard for Prey. : )

i'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay behind on the post-nemesis books. The last ones i read where the Typhon Pact books. I have yet to get to the Fall series, and the few books after those that have come out. But i did read TNG: takedown because i love all of JJM's books. So i can't wait to dive into Prey.

With any luck, she did. Spock appears in several post-Destiny novels and never once does he seem saddened by any death of some close family member.
