I saw that just a minute ago in the Irish News and was about to mention it. Shot his first and last scenes in the show in one week. RIP.

Quick Question: Outside of Cersi and Daney, Sansa is one of my favorite female characters on the show. How come there is so little spoiler info about her character from the books?

With respect and deference to your own opinion about her, this is probably because she's not generally considered a "fan favorite".

Everyone wants to know Cersei's fate, as she's become certifiably insane trying to escape from her dead father's oppressive shadow and legacy, and her slow-burn downfall (all by her own doing) with the lords, commoners, enemies, "allies", Sparrows and the Iron Bank alike has become quite delicious to behold - a great example of freudenschade (only the Germans could come up with a word like this ). In short, the ravens are all coming home to roost and taking a collective dump on her head.

Daney is understandable, because she's one of the top protagonists of the story and her goals are epic. We all want to see her ride back into Westeros on one of her dragons to the adoration and horror of its inhabitants and melt the Red Keep into slag.

Sansa? As much as she's evolved from what she was in the beginning (and she most certainly has, admittedly), her character isn't all that terribly compelling. Most of her POV narrative is going on in her head about how she bemoans all the situations she has experienced because she's "just a stupid little girl". In truth, the way they're setting her character up in the show, the TV version of Sansa is far more interesting than book Sansa, IMO. To be honest, Arya is a far more interesting female character overall, albeit edging on being borderline sociopathic (and who could blame her?).

I see. I haven't read the books - in fact I think they likely be very confusing to understand - it's hard enough to follow all the names on TV let alone in a book, you'd need a chart.

But yes, TV Sansa is interesting. I'm re watching the series form season one and started watching yesterday.

It is an interesting juxtaposition for example watching Sansa in season one failing to lie effectively when Jeoffery gets hit by the butchers son to her metamorphosis by the end of season 4 and she so effectively lies to cover of Petyrs murder of Liza - one in which she's in fact entrapped Petry and turned the tables on him.

^^^ You point out one of the things that makes her considerably more interesting in the show than in the books.

Book Sansa had a hard time making herself lie to the Lords Declarant who came to the Eryie to challenge Littlefinger's rule of the Vale and his account of Lysa's death (which was actually blamed on the court fool/musician, Marillion, which he was said to have done in a fit of jealousy over having married Littlefinger). The whole story was concocted by Littlefinger, who prepped and coached Sansa on how to recount it. She was sure that nobody would believe her.

In coming up with the grand lie herself, yes, TV Sansa made a quantum leap in her character development and, as you say, now has Littlefinger wrapped around HER little finger for covering his ass. I suspect we'll be seeing grander deviations from the original book material as we enter the new season.

Yes, her walk down the stairs in that stunning all black dress was epic and an indication that her transformation was complete.

And another of the Stark offspring to be associated with crows and the color black - you probably noticed the black feathers on her shoulders and around her collar area. Jon Snow's position as a brother of the Night's Watch gives him the label of "Crow". Bran has met the "Three-Eyed Crow" and his further interactions will make that relationship more clear. Robb was never quite associated in that way (aside from being dead and "left for the crows"), but Arya's story isn't over yet and may yet hint at that as well. Maybe nothing, but GRRM has a way of inserting little nuances into his stories that may be hints at something greater.

There isn't more spoiler information for Sansa from the books because there isn't much of it available yet. The TV show has run through almost all of her material from the books published so far. The fifth season will either have material for Sansa created just for the show or get into material that will be in the sixth book or a combination thereof.

Thanks, I couldn't find anymore and you confirmed it. Any speculation on where the TV show may take her character?

I was thinking that since she now has Little Finger - as the other poster said rapped around her finger - they may have her marry Robin the Prince of the Vale making her Queen and she may turn out more like Cersci in terms of becoming manipulative as opposed to being more like one of the, "good Starks.'

Also, it's inevitable don't you think that Sansa at some point will meet up again with Arrya?

While I don't know how the show will do it, but in the books
Littlefinger is setting her up to marry Robin's heir (since Robin is too weak and feeble to live much longer, let alone produce heirs, and he's her first cousin).

I never noticed that. Rickon doesn't have any associations with crows that I can recall, but his direwolf, Shaggydog, has an all-black coat of fur.

^^^ True. Unfortunately Rickon seems to have been swept under the rug, so to speak, in both the books and show, to-date. I don't really honestly know if we'll ever see him again, so I'm unsure if there will be a deeper association with him and the color black going forward.

We'll almost certainly see Rickon again, at least in the books; Martin has confirmed that Osha will appear in The Winds of Winter, and it would be odd (though of course not impossible) to have her without him.

I'm working on the assumption that Ser Davos' search for him will be a relatively significant storyline. I'm hoping so anyway.

I still feel like Rickon's sole reason for existing is to be the next Stark in Winterfell, but that's probably too simple.

Nice that the original actor has been brought back. With Myrcella and Tommem having been recast, it wouldn't have surprised me if they'd brought in a new Rickon too.

^The quoted article was about potential filming for season 4, which Rickon obviously wasn't part of. (It turned out Parkinson's tweet was about his role in the Northern Ireland-filmed Dracula Untold, which also features Charles Dance and J. J. Murphy.) So we still don't know if Rickon will return in the show, or who might play him.

I too suspect Rickon might end up as the Stark in Winterfell. Certainly he has some narrative role to play, or he wouldn't exist in the first place.
