Episodes that are outside of the bridge crew.

TerraNovan

Lieutenant Commander
Alright here goes list off all the episodes that you can think of that happen outside of the bridge crew.

I.e. episodes that are stands alones with no direct connection to the main crew.

I.e.

Carbon creek, (vulcans arrive in 1950s america)

Lower decks (the junior ranks of the enterprise have a stand alone)

All mentioned so far include scenes with at least one bridge character.

One that does not is ENT: In a Mirror, Darkly because it takes place entirely in the Mirror Universe including the main title.

That's what Good Shepherd was trying to be.

Janeway: "So, I'm hanging out with you guys cause you suck. Now I'm going to be nice to you for an episode to make you feel less sucky! I'm such a good captain."

VOY: Living Witness might qualify, since it takes place about 700 years later, involves an EMH backup hologram, and the bridge crew are always holographic simulations.

How about "Hard Time" (DS9)? Bridge crew appearances are pretty minor, limited to a few perfunctory lines made to lead us back to O'Brien, and were just framing devices like the real crew in Voyager's "Course: Oblivion," named above. As I recall, of the senior staff only Bashir has much to do at all with the plot, and he's not bridge crew.

Edited to add: Huh. Never mind. O'Brien is bridge crew on DS9, isn't he? Chief of Ops. It's just that you usually see him in the bowels of something doing repairs.

But maybe some Bashir-centric eps?

Except it happens directly on the bridge of the ship, with the whole bridge cast.

I mean episodes where they could function as independent spin offs.

Nah I think its too directly tied to the main show,

a better one is those ds9 episodes involving the orion syndicate.

He's the vaguely defined Chief of Operations, which seems to be just chief engineer by a different name. But yes, since he has a station in Ops and on the bridge of the Defiant, he qualifies as bridge crew.

Doctor in the alien museum in the distant future episode and In a Mirror, Darkly, seem to be the only true qualifiers.

DS9's It's Only A Paper Moon focuses squarely on Nog and Vic Fontaine. The bridge, or ops cast, seems like the guest stars. Great episode too.

what about the DS9 episode where quark and co. go back in time to the Roswell incident?

Good one! That's "Little Green Men" I think.

Which reminds me of "Family Business" and "Profit and Lace."

How about (pee-yuh I know) "Sub Rosa" from TNG? Maybe "Remember me" (decidedly not pee-yuh).

I recall that Babylon 5 did this once. The regular cast members may have made appearances, but the episode used a couple of maintenance guys as the viewpoint characters. Worked well, at least for that one episode.

That was not clear in your OP when you said I.e. episodes that are stands alones with no direct connection to the main crew. You've changed the conditions, you said nothing about no bridge scenes.

If one is being technical in limiting the consideration to the bridge crew, then Muse is about as close as Voyager gets. Very minimal commnad staff hand wringing as to the shuttle crew's disposition and Harry doesn't make his appearance until pretty late in the proceedings.
