I don't mind lockbox ships becoming obsolete; what I mind is not being able to delete them to clear out ship slots, without the ability to reclaim them (even if it's a per-character unlock).

I'm pretty sure all our existing ships will get an upgrade path to tier 6... at a cost. Hopefully it will just be 500 zen but knowing Cryptic, I won't be too surprised if its going to cost more than that.

    Probably closer to 2000.

Well, I do. I invested more than a year of daily dilithium grinding, EC farming, and lockbox opening to get my main into a temporal destroyer equipped with the complete temporal warfare set and the temporal science ship hull skin (because the Krenn looks so much better with the Korath skin).
I LOVE that ship and I don't want to fly anything else.
And that's just my main. All my characters are flying lockbox-, C-Store- or Fleet ships. There's a shit ton of time invested into all of them because i didn't pay any real money.
I'd absolutely hate to see them all become obsolete.

They have said they won't upgrade to Tier 6, but since they won't become obsolete, any upgrade will probably push them to what would be tier 5.75 to 5.9. Still usable but on the low end of the end-game power range.

Their objective is to see us Tier 6 ships without alienating the player base. They will make you blow up a lot at end-game, which will prompt you to go tier 6.

So basically the effectiveness of 9 console endgame ships with mk X gear at current end game.

That would be my guess. You can live with it, but you'll will really want a higher powered ship.

Now my next question is, will they upgrade all the PVE STFs and other qued missions for tier 6 and mk XIV? STFs are supposed to be end game content, so it would make sense for them to upgrade them. If they don't, most people can continue to just run them without need of ship upgrades until they want to do the new content.

Plus are they going to be adding the new endgame level gear to the fleet stores?

Remember, in the early days a group of T4 RA ships could still complete an STF. Granted, it was hard but it was achievable with a good team (hence the birth of EliteSTF and private STF channels). So I'm pretty sure even a T5 ship would help in level 60 content, it would just be hard to complete.

Its why I'm speculating we'll see either a new level of difficulty for current STFs, remastered STFs (to bring them in line with Hive difficulty) or get brand new STFs. Although, I'll be very surprised if we get new STFs.

Ok, being anal here about the ship tiers, but:

Ensign/Lieutenant levels = Tier 1 aka starter ships aka Miranda class , etc

Lieutenant Commander levels = Tier 2 aka Saber, Nova, Constitution refit

Commander levels = Tier 3 aka Akira, Stargazer, Olympic, etc

Captain levels = Tier 4 aka Galaxy, Defiant, Intrepid

Rear Admiral = Tier 5 aka Sovereign, Luna, Prometheus

Vice Admiral = Tier 5, technically not more powerful than Rear Admiral T5, but tends to be more specialized or more exotic or comes with extra gimmicks or is actually more powerful if the ship comes from a lockbox or from a fleet ship yard or part of a special c-store bundle or all of the above

I'm not too upset about the T6 making T5 a lesser thing... Perhaps I should be... eh. I think I'm more upset that the T6 Fed ship is... ugly... I like the Klingon and Rom though.

This was for my Andorian toon who is an Engineering Lt. Commander (?) right now. Currently, I have the Cruiser. (Tentative ships I am thinking of for promotion is the Galaxy or the Defiant-class).

I guess - like my sci officer to sci vessels - I'm trying to lean more towards Engineer-friendly ships for my Lt. Cmdr. I briefly glanced at the specs for the Patrol Escort, and the Mirror Assault Cruiser.

For my Centurion, I'm still trying to get an idea of the specs for Romulan ships. I understand they have some requisition packs for Romulan ships as well - I think for both Mirror and 'real universe' ships - on the exchange. I currently have the Dhelan Warbird which is powerful to a degree; it's slow, not that strong against Borg, but can obviously take on the lower Tier T'Liss Warbird with ease.

Plus it's kind of annoying that Cryptic is again changing their minds about what 25th century Starfleet ships are supposed to look like.

Seriously could they make up their freaking minds already.

I don't know if anyone who has Romulan toons played the sequence "Mind Games" involving capture and brainwashing by Sela and the Tal Shiar; it's pretty creepy and dark considering some of the things you have to do. Also, it's pretty sad what you hear of the additional things the Tal Shiar does to one Romulan patient on Nimbus III later on.

With this sequence - "Mind Games" - and even the Deferi sequences, I tip my head to the people who made the player - me - feel for some of the characters, including our own toons who also have to 'experience' these moments in their own way.

There were some people on the official forums complaining about the mission when it was first released with the Romulan expansion, because they didn't like that heir hero character was forced to take these horrible actions.

But I think it's among the best missions in the game.

So... Harry Kim? I realize that they're on a budget and he probably comes cheap, but they picked just about the most forgettable and least interesting member of a forgettable, uninteresting cast.

Still, it could be funny. I'd imagine he'd hate the player's guts.

"You went from graduation to Vice Admiral in about a year? I fucking hate you."

"I'll overlook that one, lieutenant, but if you want to keep the promotion I gave you just now, you'd better watch your mouth."
