Star Trek Special: Flesh and Stone - July 2014

I find it hard to believe that the Tiptons would write a comic where not very much actually happened.

Dire - a waste of paper.

I have to wonder if the Tiptons have a picture of their editor blowing a goat?

I picked this up. I liked the conceit and the story itself wasn't bad, but I felt it was very rushed. Also, I don't think everyone had much to contribute, like Bashir. Perhaps if the story had run for four or five issues, everyone could've had more to do.

But then you get into the other common complaint about the Tiptons, that they needlessly pad their stories.

I have to admit, I found this story rather... dull. Bringing together all the doctors like that should have been quite fun, but the story seemed such a perfunctory paint-by-numbers outing that I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I expected to.

Maybe it's because the characters never really had to "solve" anything... they basically just took a detour, McCoy said "oh, yeah, that" and handed them the cure, which they took back to the station and used it to save everyone. No tension, no drama.

And the conceit that infecting a *Starfleet* medical conference would mean there were no doctors left in the entire *Federation* that could figure this out...

OTOH, it was nice to see Pulaski again. Between this and A Ceremony of Losses, she's having a bit of a resurgence lately! :techman:

FYI, price on Amazon for this comic is now $1.99 (down from the $3.99 it was previously) for the Kindle edition; don't know if is a "special" or what. There is a note on the listing "This price was set by the publisher."
