The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

More new 3.75" figures are being announced over at the collecting sites! Until Hasbro officially confirms these take them with a grain of salt, but according to reliable collecting sources these are definite (or close to it):

Han Solo (Hoth Outfit)

Tzizvvt

Shasa Tiel (Ishi Tib from Jabba's Palace)

Barada

Vedain (Nikto Skiff Guard Driver)

Han Solo (In Carbonite)

Lobot

Lando Calrissian (Cloud City outfit with cape?)

Bespin Security Guard

Power Droid (classic Kenner figure colors?)

Hammerhead (Momaw Nadon)

There's been at least one Star Wars action figure where the head is removable and attaches by means of a tiny magnet. It's a Tusken Raider (Sand People) based on Attack of the Clones and the sequence wherein Anakin massacres and decapitates the entire village of Tuskens after his mother dies in their captivity.

^ I'm sure there have been calls by some for a Jedi younglings massacre play-set since the prequel trilogy came out. ;)

No doubt.

They've attempted to keep the gore factor to a minimum in recent years. They did a Mustafar / "Crispy" Anakin figure in 2005 that had him dismembered, ripped up and burnt, but they didn't go as far as they could have because it was a mass retail action figure at least partially aimed at kids.

There was a Jango Fett, too.

Yep. "Arena Battle" Jango from 2002. Some might complain there's no visible blood nor gore on that figure, but there was no visible blood nor gore when Mace Windu decapitates Jango in the film.

Yep. Ponda Baba ("Walrus Man") in the Cantina was the only lightsaber victim who bled, at least on the big screen.

This isn't specifically action figure related, but it's toy related. I couldn't help giggling at the description of #6 on this list, because the Anti-Terrorism Super Gun is such a classically cheap toy and because it's funny to picture a hermit crab shop selling them. If I have an excuse to visit Jersey, I'll need to visit Wildwood.

I finally bought the Greg Capullo Nightwing at my LCS. Simply awesome. I would have bought Batman too but they had one left, and he had a spotchy paint job around his chest and symbol so I passed. I'll just get him another time, also will pick up the Capullo Riddler at some point in the next couple of weeks as well.

In addition to Boba Fett, there's also an exclusive Agent Venom figure from the Marvel Legends Spider-Man line, and a variant of Tyrion Lannister from Funko's Game of Thrones line. Yeesh, what's up with Walgreens getting all of these exclusives all of a sudden?

With about 9,000 Walgreens locations in the United States I'm hoping that most of the stores get at least one full shipment of the Proto Fett. I'm under no illusions that it'll be the easiest score (especially given the local scalpers who'll grab as many as they can and then sell them for double, triple or quadruple the original price) but if I can find at least one I'll be satisfied.

Exclusives don't always fly off the shelves, but this one probably will.
