First of all, this list in my personal opinion is just incredibly stupid and makes no sense. It is so far one of the worst entrainment articles I have read.

It is clear that the writer of this article is just looking for attention. It was incredibly painful to read what is on the list but I had too.

    http://whatculture.com/film/20-cringeworthy-moments-new-star-trek-movies.php/20

Here is what this person listed as the most cringe worthy scenes is New Trek.

    20. Lens Flare From Star Trek And Star Trek Into Darkness

    19. Young Kirk’s Car Heist From Star Trek

    18. The Kobayashi Maru Test From Star Trek

    17. Tyler Perry’s Star Trek

    16. Kirk’s Allergic Reaction From Star Trek

    15. The Enterprise Brewery From Star Trek And Star Trek Into Darkness

    14. Chekov’s Accent (Again) From Star Trek

    13. Hi, Christopher, I’m Nero” From Star Trek

    12. I Can Do That!” From Star Trek

    11. Mr. Scott, In Engineering, In The Pipes From Star Trek

    10. Spock Channeling Data From Star Trek Into Darkness

    9. Kirk’s Inappropriate Interest In His Bridge Officers’ Love Lives From Star Trek Into Darkness

    8. Drunken Scotty From Star Trek Into Darkness

    7. Carol Marcus Fan Service From Star Trek Into Darkness

    6. Young Spock Phones Home From Star Trek Into Darkness

    5. Marcus’ “War Is Coming” Speech

    4. You Should Have Let Me Sleep!” From Star Trek Into Darkness

    3. The Captain’s Oath From Star Trek Into Darkness

    2. The Big Reveal From Star Trek Into Darkness

    1. Young Spock’s Take On “Khaaaannnn!” From Star Trek Into Darkness

So there we have it. Apparently the author of this article thinks all this scenes are cringe worthy. Am sorry but apart from about 3 scenes he put on the list, I do not think the majority of this scenes are cringe worthy and even the 3 scenes I will pick are not really cringe worthy.

The Spock screaming Khan scene which I made a thread of last week, Yes I cringed but I also found it funny and enduring.

    http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=249256

    Its amazing how haters think.

Please how is the majority of the scenes cringe worthy????

This article is cringeworthy. Never mind the content, people are entitled to their opinions. But why does every internet stooge think he can write like Jeremy Clarkson?

I'd say people remember Into Darkness just fine. People are still writing articles on it more than a year after release.

That list is an absolute load of cobblers. How is lens flare cringeworthy? The allergic reaction I also think is quite funny. I can't honestly say I've 'cringed' at any scene in JJTrek, shocked maybe (Khaaaaan!!)

Just another keyboard warrior bell-end on the internet...

How the hell is Tyler Perry being in the film cringe worthy?

Most people were glad to see Tyler not in drag or playing a stereotypical black role like he plays in many of his films.

Am sorry to say this but the author of this article is incredibly stupid and ignorant. The fact they they let him publish such nonsense makes me loose respect for what culture.

The really bad thing about the internet is any dumbass in his bedroom can create a blog and call himself a columnist/journalist. The worst part is some of them actually make money at it.

I didn't read the article, but I don't even understand what he means by this.

Which Big Reveal would that be?

That people are still desperately trying to "prove" the new Trek a failure, and especially when the content of their "articles" are as pathetic as this, proves beyond any doubt that it isn't.

What I find cringeworthy is the OP's exuberant use of erotemes.

    As are most from Whatculture.

Let's keep it about the movie, shall we, and not about other fans?

My God, what a load of crap. Mr. Whitt, is this some kind of lame attempt at satire? I mean, I see you trying to be flippant and funny and all, but it ain't working, man. It's written with the same snark an overly self-satisfied college junior would think is clever and will get many nods and laughs. Instead Mr. Whitt, in this piece you merely come across as callow.

Edited to add: You waited a year after the release of STID and five years after ST09 to publish this? Why? And by the way, the word "publish" in the Internet world has become a very loose term. I'd have liked to see that piece get by the editor's desk of a newspaper or magazine. Not because its content is of dubious validity, you're entitled to your opinion, but just for how poorly executed it is. Then again, I read the article, so I saw the ads and read your bio (then looked you up on Amazon -- yes, it's a boring day). So maybe it is "mission accomplished."

I could list 20 cringe worthy moments from any movie. And maybe 200 from The Phantom Menace.:lol:

I saw the same guys list for the 20 most cringe worthy moments from all the Star Trek movies. I'm not impressed with his choices. A couple of things he included I agree with.

But I think the missed the mark mostly. For instance he said Troi and Rikers wedding was the No.1 most cringeworthy moment in all Star Trek movies. I can think of 100 way more cringeworthy moments.

And the boob comparison in INS didn't even make top 20. ;):lol:

Complaints about Scotty getting drunk is silly, as if he never got drunk in the prime timeline with a Kelvan or even Picard. Heck, this is the first time I've ever heard of anyone complain about Scotty's drunkenness, which goes to show how much gasping at straws is going on in this article.

Scotty was an alcoholic in the Prime timeline.

Totally agree with all of what was listed in the OP, though my order may be somewhat different and I'd probably have to add the gross unprofessionalism of NuUhura in STiD, as well starship underwater, and massive violation of the Prime Directive at the start of the movie. Not to mention ridiculasly large starships, superwarp and interstellar beaming.

    All cringe inducing I find.

Honestly, what is the difference between a 400-, a 700- or a 1,000-meter starship? What about that is somehow "ridiculous" or "cringeworthy"?

I LOVED that - totally in keeping with Kirk's character IMO. It was so refreshing we didn't have to sit through a tedious conference about it - or some kind of spooky "spirit walk" with "prophets" etc.

Why would those cause anyone to cringe?

Star Trek characters act "unprofessionally" all the time. They steal starships, go on personal quests for vengence and romance associates all the time.

Yeah, taking the ship underwater is a bad idea. Scotty even brings it up.

Violating the Prime Directive is a ST staple. It was created so the characters could violate it. A little late in game to complain about it.

Its a fictional space ship. There is no way it can be "ridiculasly (sic) large."

Superwarp and interstellar beaming have been used as plot elements before. Hardly precedent setting or cringe inducing.

    Size doesn't matter.

At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
