New Batgirl suit/ creative team

It's a great look. I like the fact that in the designs they make a point that it's not boob hugging spandex, but something a little more pragmatic.

Though, the attitude in the drawing makes me think she's like 22 and hasn't ever seen death.

My only negative with the costume is the boots.... keeping the dirt (and blood) off those is going to be a pain in the ass.

I like it. Very practical and good for fighting, and it looks heavily influenced by motorcycle leathers, which is good. And the snap-off cape helps avoid any "No capes!" type situations. ;)

22?

I'm not sure that I'm not looking at a 12 year old.

Yes, fully grown women can be tiny, I just need some context to know that she is 22.

On the linked page, it claims that Barbara sourced her entire "costume" from second hand vintage shops.

Frank Castle wears white gloves every night.

The amount of bleach he uses night after night on those gloves to keep them white, no matter how many people he kills, they probably burn human skin upon contact instantly.

What I like the least right off the bat (ha ha) are the exposed bootlaces, particularly the bows on top. But for the most part, this looks great.

Yeah, the yellow combat boots are really out of place. Otherwise a nice update and very "live action" friendly.

As I said in the DC thread, this is the kind of concept suit that some people here were suggesting for Superman. Sort of an X-men leather-type outfit. And yeah, now that you mention it Trekker, it does look like the Starfleet uniform from Enterprise.

How do I like the suit? It's different, that's for sure and I can't wait to see it in action. It's utilitarian but a little too chic for a dark superhero of the night. But as I was once reminded and as the article suggests, Barbara isn't Batman. The promo shot with her in the club bathroom says something. I was also wondering earlier if they'd continue to draw her with high-kicks and mid-air splits that accentuate every curve, given how bulky this new outfit appeared at first glance, but seeing it again, it looks like they may not have to or want to give that up.

I also like what the creative team said about what we should expect in terms of writing and storytelling. Making Babs a fun flirty character with a lot of internal dialog is what made the title fun to read up to this point, so I'm glad that they plan to dive further into that.

Wait, didn't they redesign Barb as Batgirl just recently? I know I don't follow the comics much any more but it can't be *that* long since they kicked Steph to the curb yet again. Also, I agree with Guy, she looks like a teenager again. Just how many times are they going to reboot their universe this decade?

i think it looks great and seems practical. ANd they definitely have "girl" in Batgirl with this shot.

I agree. How will they handle some of the non-reimagined character/s meeting up with her now that she looks like a late teen to early twenties girl?

I bet the girls in this universe want some of that de-aging stuff Babs has been taking.

I'm not so sure about the "trendy hipster" description, but I do really like the costume. It's got a very practical Hit Girl look to it.

The previous redesign I wasn't really a fan of. It just had too many lines and textures and weird design elements on it.

So, Batgirl is 15 now? The costume is pretty lame, but I don't really care, I don't read the book and New 52 Barbara Gordon isn't a character I like anyway. Still, its funny that they've already redesigned her, after only a few years. The fact that she looks like she's no longer old enough to drive is kind of creepy, though.

They made her 15?!

That doesn't make any sense since she's moving to The Village, er, this district of Gotham. And she's like in her early/mid-twenties in the book. Not much liking the look of this Bargirl, the costume also looks too much like a proto-costume, as if we're doing a "Batgirl: Year One" or something.

 No, they didn't, I was kidding. The pictures shown in the article looks like an underage girl, but (from what little I've read in the past) she's supposed to be in her early 20s in the New 52. But, the main pic makes her look like a high schooler as she's taking a selfie, and her design definitely looks about 14-16. I'm assuming its just the lame art and that they aren't actually deaging her, though. That's a bit too ridiculous, even for DC.

Seems a bit silly when you consider this version of Barb is now about the same age Steph was when she had her stint as Batgirl, only for them to bring back a mature Barb...talk about being indecisive. I mean if all they're after is a younger, more contemporary Batgirl (who, incidentally will seem dated in two years flat) then why not just use Steph, of Cass even?

Maybe I'm just being a stick in the mud, but I always thought Barb was FAR more interesting as Oracle then she ever was as Batgirl.

Shot into paralysis and "arguably" raped by the Joker.

That's a fricking meaty origin compared to: "I was bored".

Not quite what I meant. I just think she was a more interesting character in general, origin notwithstanding. Also I don't recall him raping her. Shooting, stripping and taking demeaning photos yes, but not rape. I don't think that's Joker's style.

Come to think of it, for me at least 'The Killing Joke' incident is the least interesting part of Oracle's character. For one thing she was far more powerful and a greater force for good when she was sat in a wheelchair in front of a monitor than she ever was swinging batarangs at some random mugger.
