Question about Losing the Peace

Smitty

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
From what I can tell this is one that continues directory from Destiny series. What is odd is that I cannot find where it has ever been reviewed/polled here (via the search). What are the thoughts on this one? (The furthest I have read is the Destiny series).
Thanks in advance

I thought it was a lot more enjoyable then the back cover description or its reputation around the boards let on. Not the greatest, but some good moments in there.

Very enjoyable read, and I've read it a total of three of four times now I think.

Not the greatest TrekLit novel ever, but also underappreciated I feel. Good character moments, and it shows us a lot of the backlash of the Borg Invasion for normal Federation citizens.

Highly enjoyable, I agree with Mage that it did a lot to really show the impact of Destiny on the average man/woman/how-ever-many-gendered-alien. In fact I enjoyed it more than Destiny itself (but be warned that I'm part of the minority that wasn't mad about Destiny).

The problem with Losing the Peace, and to a degree also A Singular Destiny, is that they are sandwiched between Destiny and the Typhon Pact series, so they tend to be overlooked a bit as those draw the most attention and discussion.

Losing the peace definitely certainly talks about the aftermath the Borg has caused in this book it's well written and some of the TNG charcters are certainly put through the emotional wringer in this book.

I really loved Losing the Peace. I gobbled it up when it first came out after Destiny. I'm disappointed that Mr. Leisner has only been asked to write one trek book since then. I thought it was so good that he would join the cast of regular trek writers like DRG3, Christoper, David Mack, Kirsten Beyer, etc.

Hopefully there is more 24th century trek coming from William Leisner in the coming years :techman:

My only problem with the text is that it humano-centrises the plight, in focusing on human refuges from Deneva, rather than the seemingly more alien mix suggested in Destiny with Vulcan and Betazoid 'mini' protagonists. It's a solid book, with a wonderful cover.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a great followup to Destiny.

I mostly remember the refugees from Risa in that book, actually. Some were Risian, some were Human, and some were Huanni, IIRC. I do think the implication was that Deneva was predominantly Human, but I always took it for granted that a former Earth colony would have Humans as the single largest species group.
