Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Original Sin #4

Okay, everything from the previous issue was an immediate fake out. Nick Fury isn't dead and Bucky isn't evil. I should have guessed :p

I was thinking to myself, Nick Fury is so frickin' paranoid and so much has happened to him, why would he EVER show up in his real body? He must buried away in a bomb shelter somewhere that not one living soul knows about and he does everything in his life via LMDs. Interesting that he looks old; I guess his Infinity Formula isn't working as well as Dum Dum Dugan's?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Original Sin # 5. Interesting stuff but I'm having a real hard time jivving this with everything we learned in Hickman's SHIELD series. You even have Howard Stark in it, but I can't tell if it's a reference to Hickman-SHIELD or a continuity error... I just wish it had been more overt.

Also, I would like for Hickman to finish that damn series one day! :p

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Just flipping through OSin on the stands and reading other Marvel books what Sin seems to be cementing(if for an unspecified time) is that the real white original Nick Fury is going to die(be out of the way) to allow for SLJ Nick Fury Jr to be seen as the Nick Fury for awhile. Poor creativity imo.

Marvel can have:
Iron Man & War Machine/Iron Patriot
Captain America & USAgent
Spiderman & Spiderman 2099 & Scarlet Spider & Venom/Flash(just black costume Spidey)
All running around w/o cries of "confusion" but we can't have both Nick's?
Come on now.

i was thinking the same thing. Fury also lost his eye in WWII due to an exploding grenade. but in the latest Original Sin he still has both eyes in the 50s flashback. unless the one who lost the eye was an LMD?

i fee like issue #5 caused more continuity problems than anything here lately. makes me wonder how well Aaron is going to weave Angela into the Thor mythos.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I think old Nick is also an LMD. The real Nick is somewhere playing "Call of Duty" with Billy Koenig.

Did anyone else read the New Avengers annual? Great Dr. Strange solo story. The art might have seemed strange with just about any other character, but it worked for Strange.

i thought it was great. loved the focus on Dr Strange. loved the artwork too. reminded me of some of the older stories from the 60s and 70s.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

When does the whole Original Sin series take place? I'm asking because in Original Sins #2, the Black Knight is having a complete breakdown (because of the Ebony Blade curse). Yet in Avengers World #8, he's perfectly fine.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I'm also confused about when the Avengers issues are taking place within Original Sin. Because Cap was there at the knowledge bomb event.... yet he seems to remember the mind wipe later in bed in the Avengers issue. And then all the Avengers are time jumping around for a long time. But then we see Iron Man already back from it in an issue of New Avengers.

Fury's eye was injured in WWII, but he didn't totally loose the sight in that eye until later.

Which continuity?

Ennis choreographed a really graphic splash page showing how Strucker was ultimately responsible about 5 years ago.

No idea. Didn't read the GN in question. Ennis probably doesn't have a clue about Fury's past.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

so what do you guys think about Steve being replaced as Captain America? who do you think it will be?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Ennis did a couple 6 issue miniseries called Sergeant Fury that were fun.

A modern update to origins of a character most people haven't read entirely.

Graphic violence, course language and an encyclopaedic knowledge of 1940s era weapons and munitions.

Nick Fury:
Fury Peacemaker is the one I'm thinking of.

Nick lost his eye in issue 6.

Modern updates are nice, but we all know that they are quickly forgotten, and the original work still is the seminal reference always, but that's by no means a reason to turn your nose up at a fun read.

Wow.

That is not the image in my minds eye.

It's so much less like a John Woo movie.

Where are the ####ing doves!?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Can you imagine someone travelling through time to get Captain America in the mid 1970s, to save the day, but they accidentally collect Roscoe Simmons? The replacement captain America after Steve got bummed about corruption in the White House.... Nixon is the leader of a terrorist organization called the Secret Empire which was writer Steve Englehart poking fun at Watergate. :)

Sliding continuity/Marvel Time... Roger's disillusion with the Presidency that lead to the creation of the Nomad persona, is now probably a story about about George Bush II's White House and No longer Nixon's White House, becuase Steve was still sleeping in ice when Nixon was President.

George W Bush, POTUS, was also the criminal mastermind behind the terrorist organization, The Secret Empire?

Wow.

You think you know a guy.

My money is on Cheney.

Roscoe was Cap for like five minutes or however long it took the Skull to kill him.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The Doesn't work.

The Penguin is DC, and Secret Empire is Marvel.

;)
