Does anyone out there remember this show?

Only ran for nine episodes, and ended with them about to set up a station on Mars which could have seen a great second season.

It was a great diverse team of characters, a well done space crime proceedural, and hard sci-fi.

Glad I got it when I did. It was technically a gift for my father as he enjoyed it too, but I think I've watched it more than him.

(Amazon US have it, but even with the exchange rate, it's still a lot. Ioffer.com apparently have it for just over a fiver, but I've never used them so don't have a clue what they're like).

I've also just noticed that there is a book. I might have a look at that.

(Edit To add - Some of the reviews for Ioffer make it look quite dodgy)

Too me a couple of goes to get into but was good series unfortunately cut short by one of those imfamous BBC strikes.

There were some novelisations of the un-produced stories.

Not sure how a second series set on Mars would have gone though - given it's fairly realistic depiction of space travel (no impulse or warp drive) Mars might have been a bit out of the way.

Just don't ever mention the theme to Chris Boucher :)

A terrific show, though there were behind the scenes problems (not only the strike that kiled one episode, but also the clash between the producer and the creator/main writer). The original 90 minute script for episode one works a lot better than the shortened version that went out, and sets up stuff for the episode that was stopped by the strike (where Nathan's old assistant was to return, now used to being his own boss).

I first caught it back in the olden days on PBS and was hooked. Recently rewatched the series on YouTube. I hadn't actually seen the pilot until the rewatch.

Good drama. I like it. Ranked it in my top 20 scifi shows of all time for awhile.

I'd like to (legally) re-watch that show again to see if it holds up since my last viewing of it on...was it Space Channel? Or TVO?

Really loved watching this show when it aired on my local PBS station. I liked that the lead wasn't a typical good-looking, square-jaw type. He looked like a cop and acted like one. Although the show could fallback on stereotypes when it came to the more ethnic characters.

And what was wrong with the theme song? Such 80s rock. :D

I love the song, I must have seen the series on PBS many years ago, always remembered the song, didn't find out what show it belonged to until a few years ago.

I didn't really mind the song - not sure why it may be so universally reviled, not different to half the stuff that came out of the '80's.

The great thing about it was that they were all misfits of one sort or another.

Spring, who only got the job as he was "pushed" by his superiors, because he argued with them on a case, and was right!

Theroux who left the American programme under a cloud.

Kenzy who was a corrupt cop, initially sacked but managed to get herself back in.

Devis who was fired on Earth for rocking-the-boat with the security services.

Inaba who got fired from her employer then taken on.

No-one was truly squeeky clean, which was refreshing at this time.

Someone must have liked the song and title sequence because they seem very similar to those for Enterprise -- at least they do to me.

I didn't mind the song. I still have the VHS release - never knew there had been a DVD already!

Lost the VHS copies in the divorce (damn you vile woman!!!).

I'm working on a costume for the MCM Expo in London in October, hell of a job finding coveralls in the right colour though!

I saw several sets being remaindered for £20 each 10 years ago. Kicking myself now for only snapping up one.

The song's fine. It's the singer I can't stand. he sounds like he's straining on the john whenver he tries to hit a high note.

So we can take it you're not familiar with Justin Haywood/The Moody Blues :)
