i thought it was odd when Quicksilver said that his dad controlled metal.

Meanwhile, imagine the damage he could have done to the Pentagon with electromagnetic pulses, even in 1972, if he really was a master of magnetism and not a metal master.

How can the Sentinels be constructed with no metal? Don't all computer circuits need metal??????????

"Something something space age alloy that is not magentic!" is, I believe, the hand-wavey explanation given by Trask.

I think a lot of metal allloys are not that magnetic so the appropriate question would be why can Magneto manipulate non-ferrous metals but not plastics or other minerals. It's not clear where control over electro magnetism begins e.g. control over electrical circuits and plain old telekinesis ends.

I don't know if its been mentioned previously but Xmen DOFP just became the #1 box office movie of 2014!

For however long that lasts (Transformers will probably pass it eventually).

Mockingjay Part 1 will in turn destroy that #1 spot

Not necessarily. Even with Transformers 4 falling below expectations it will likely be in the mid 800s to 1.1 billion worldwide when all is said and done.

The first part of two part conclusions tend to make far less than the finale (Harry Potter, Twilight, etc) and Catching fire only made in the low to mid 800s as it stands. There are a lot of countries where Hunger Games just isn't that popular. In China, South Korea and Hong Kong alone TF4 will make almost $200-230 million more than Mockingjay will.

I would not have said that DoFP was a much better movie than First Class and the difference cannot just be down to Wolverine. Is it just that the original cast had a lot more to give and the public are signalling their approval for their inclusion?

It certainly wouldn't surprise me if this was a factor.

One of the main reasons I didn't like "First Class" was because it just didn't feel like an X-Men movie. Too many characters I didn't know or care about.

Give me Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. Those are *my* X-Men, and they're probably the X-Men the general audience is most familiar with (since I'm guessing many of us grew up with the 90s cartoon, even if we didn't read the comics).

I'd like to think a lot of people felt burned by TLS and XMO:W and took it out on the franchise by not going to First Class, just as TLS made buckets and buckets of money due to how much people enjoyed X2, then caught up with First Class later and saw how great it was.

But, yeah, the Jackman factor is probably the biggest. And then The Wolverine was a great audience-primer for his return to the larger ensemble. (And the exploding stardom of Lawrence and Fassbender couldn't have hurt, either.)

Of course another factor to consider is China, the inclusion of Fan Bingbing as Blink might have helped in that market.

She didn't have a major role but I think her inclusion led to a lot of free publicity from her fans and people in China who knew about DOFP because she was in it.

Anyone know if there's going to be a Sainsburys (or other retailer) exclusive bonus disc with the bluray or DVD ?
