Andromeda: Does anyone have this as their favourite show?

Rule of thumb. If something's on youtube for more than 10 minutes, there's no issue. Youtube clamps down hard on fast on stuff folks don't want on there (Witness how fast new unauthorized Trailers come down). Lots and Lots of Doctor Who available on YouTube, yet, when missing episodes were found, they weren't there, and the Reconstructions were also pulled for the still missing episodes of those Serials, so, the missing episode Sales wouldn't be affected.

Exactly my point. Doctor Who is very quick to shut episodes/Trailers/Mini-episodes down, if they don't want them available. So, if they left them alone, for longer than a day or so, they don't have a problem with it (I believe you won't find S7 of Doctor Who on Youtube, because it has just been released to Netflix (and some Netflix, I believe don't even have all of S7 and the Specials yet)

Not anymore. Tribune had them taken down. The Andromeda channel is still there but all the episodes have been removed.

If Andromeda becomes so terrible after Season 1, how did it manage to last for 5 seasons? 5 seasons is a really long time, especially for a sci-fi show so it must have had a strong fanbase...

Well, part of season 2 was still good...

i recall season 4 getting back up to the quality/storyline of season 1

I think season 3 was hit or miss...i haven't seen it in a while, so i forget. I know that "Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath" with Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks & JR Bourne aired during season 3...i somehow missed it , but i think it was regarded as a great episode.

Season 5 was made purely to package repeat syndication (the magical 100 episodes).

Also, i forget what shows were airing at the time ...there might have been a minor drought at the time (i think DS9 had ended by then; not much on Fox)

IIRC, Sci Fi began airing season 4 episodes 1 week after they debuted in syndication (on Fridays at 7pmEST, just ahead of their prime time Friday block), and it did well enough that with their financial help, season 5 was greenlit.

I only caught up with the series a year ago. There was some good stuff in there and it was no doubt somewhat hampered by its budget.

Because when a show starts off well, fans have a more difficult time turning away from it.

If it was crappy from the get-go, it probably would have died earlier, but the first season reeled enough people in to keep them interested.

There's massive space battles thoughout the first four seasons, far bigger than the ones on the Star Trek shows, but the styles is vastly different.

Hey guys, I was just re-watching Revenge of The Sith and wow, I was really amazed at the 'epicness' of the scene where Windu and the three Jedi confront Palpatine and Palpatine does the twirl in the air. I had forgotten how epic this scene was to the trilogy.

Episodes 1 and 2 were decent, but it seemed like they saved all of the surprises for Episode 3. DS9 gets pretty close to the epicness and Voyager did with 'Scorpion' but does Babylon 5 ever achieve this? Or Andromeda?

In Andromeda, the Stakes are at least as High, it's the fate of the entire Galaxy

I can't remember whether I gave up or simply lost track of it in S3, but it was probably a combination of the two.
