Andromeda: Does anyone have this as their favourite show?

Trance's story was the real point of the show actually not getting the new Commonwealth up and running.

No, it doesn't ... you're calling unnecessary attention to the pretense that he IS an actor.

lol.

Kevin Sorbo is an awful actor...

Your opinion, I enjoyed him in Hercules and Andromeda. I also like the man himself.

Of course it's my opinion. For shits and giggles i rewatched the Andromeda pilot on youtube. He's AWFUL as a captain. I don't believe for a second that he can be in charge of people. He lacks authority. He lacks... presence. Picard he is not.

And I'm sure he's a lovely guy. I've never met him. But, just because he's a lovely guy, doesn't make him a good actor.

He's limited.

I watched all five seasons of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda during it's first-run on television. It was enjoyable and felt like a reboot of Buck Rogers.

Yeah, barring a few episodes in that and the following season (looking at Wiki, particularly The Knight, Death and the Devil; The Lone and Level Sands; The Unconquerable Man; and Day of Judgment, Day of Wrath)

I like Sorbo well enough - he was good for Hercules, and I thought he worked for what RHW was trying to do with him in Andromeda, as the mostly-idealistic Cape. He was definitely the weakest of the mains and paled in comparison to Keith Hamilton Cobb, but I never had a problem with him onscreen.

To be fair, I suspect some critics might have said the same thing about Picard (and likely drawn unfavorable comparisons to Kirk) if all they saw was the pilot.

I don't know. I might not have found Picard likable in the pilot, but I didn't doubt that he was in charge and not some guy that wandered off the beach onto a starship.

Im up to the beginning of Season 3 and Im confused...Tyr's arm spikes have vanished! None of the crew seem to have noticed. Did I fall asleep during an episode and miss something?

It's possible the viewing order you are using was compiled by a moron.

Yes, that often is an assessment of even store bought DVDs.

A big deal was made of his "castration" at the time.

I really enjoyed this show, even the much-maligned fourth season. However, I got tired of Hunt's womanizing pretty quickly. He's worse than Kirk and Riker put together.

I thought it was funny that Beka ended up being the alpha matriarch. Would have loved it if that had been developed further just to see how the smug neitchiens(sp?) would have reacted.

Otherwise my impression overall was that hsries was confusing and brightly coloured.

Whats the name of the episode?

I always felt sorry for Beka. While not unattractive, she looks so plain next to Trance and Rommie.

I'm just going to type "what episode did tier lose his spikes" into google.

Something about a magic tunnel, but no formal explanation, and then the conversation cuts and pastes to a plea from Keith asking the trolls not to rag on Kevin Sorbo so much.

:)

As far as who is the fairest one of all, beauty is a poor method for qualifying a mate because Rommie is emotionally sterile and Trance is childlike.

If you actually want quality adult time and an adventurous tumble on Andromeda, it's Becka who you hitch your star to.

The concept of the Nietzscheans bored me to tears, and then bored me some more. However it would have helped if we'd have had, say, the Nietzschean version of Jerry Springer:

Part 1

Part 2

I think the concept of the Nietzcheans was awesome. "Living gods, warrior poets who roamed the stars bringing civilization!"

The execution, not so much.

In theory "cool" but in practise, who the frakk ever was in charge of casting, did not get it.

Actually, my comment was twofold. The in-universe concept (as stated) was awesome. But it would also have been cool to see a realistic failure of the concept; a race with that potential plainly visible in their actions/attitudes ... except they weren't quite able to rise above their own flaws. A tragic depiction.

Maybe that's what the casting/costumers thought they were giving us. As it was, with those folks being unable to rise above their own flaws, what we actually got was a race of Kazon knockoffs with a genetics fetish.

And for anyone to descend to being called a "knockoff" of the Kazon ....
