I've checked two bookstores which supposedly had it in stock but struck out at both places. Probably have not put them out yet. Oh well, to heck with it. I'l just buy the ebook as usual on Tuesday. At least I know I'll get it.

My copy has yet to ship, but I took the free shipping route, which does usually ship with a little bit of a delay.

The novel arrived in Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday. I fly to USA on Tuesday so will be bringing it back again! Like a homing pigeon.

It comes out on the 24th. Us e-book readers have to wait until then.

Interesting. The last two Trek releases have not had the usual "Thursday-before"/"Friday-before" shelf placement at the two B&Ns near me. Indeed, neither of them had the books until the Monday before. I wonder if - after all these years - B&N are tightening up their release days.

I got a copy at my local Chapters a few days ago. Just like One Constant Star, this book was at the book stores before the regular release date. Maybe it's a summer thing

I'm checking Amazon at least once a day to check if it's about to ship. So far, no luck. I figure even if the release date is the 24th it might ship before that to arrive by the 24th or very soon after. I have piles of books to read, mostly Trek books, before I'll get to it anyways, but still.

The release date of novels is generally just meant to be a loose "around here" guideline of when you should expect to see it in stores. It's only really strictly enforced in cases of high profile novels, like Harry Potter or whatever where the release day is an event. For most regular novels, it's not uncommon to find tem on shelves as early as a week in advance. But on that note, you shouldn't get into the habit of constantly expecting to see book on the shelves a week early, either.

Barnes and Noble on RT.17 in Paramus, NJ, had about five copies left. I picked up one.

Are you using a different site than the US Amazon.com? I just checked and it's still a pre-order for Tuesday's release.

Anyone know if - besides Immortal Coil and the Cold Equations trilogy - there's any books that I should re-read to better enjoy The Light Fantastic?

I just finished TLF, and as far as i'm concerned, you won't need anything more than the books you already mentioned :techman:

Would it work to go right from TCE to TLF or should I read The Fall first? I'm reading all of them no matter what, I'm just more interested in TLF at the moment.

I don't think The Light Fantastic and The Fall have anything to do with each other. If you want to read The Light Fantastic first then I say go for it.
