Star Trek Continues: Episode 3...

It might've made a nice twist if Spock had been betrayed and murdered by his followers at the end- they had never been true believers, they had simply had gone along with him to get rid of Kirk and feed their own ambitions. That it would have flown directly in the face of the canon laid down in DS9 would have made it all the better.

^^^Ummm...I $poilered that for a reason.
Ok.

I didn't use spoiler tags, and I don't have a reason.
This thread isn't labeled for $poilers which is why I did that.

You could at least edit your message above to put the missing tag back around what I wrote, so you're the one giving away plot points and not me.

I didn't edit out your spoiler tag, and putting it back in didn't work. So, to not offend the sensitive I deleted the contents of the post.

I'll assume that you're happy now. :p

Thanks, but the eye-roll sorta undermined your act of contrition.
:D

It would have been unexpected.

I think that would have cheapened the episode. Doing something because it's unexpected or shocking isn't always the right thing to do. In this case the story may have played out as expected, but I found the journey there quite enjoyable. It's too bad TOS hadn't been able to do a follow up in the mirror universe for the very next episode back then.

Contrition? No, only sarcasm.

Lighten up, for pete's sake. Sheesh.

Still Live in Agawam, I remember those days, Star Trek at 4 and Space 1999 at 5, boy what days

By the way, Dave, did you (or anyone else) notice the Space:1999 sound effect used in Fairest of Them All? I'm not saying it was intentional..it just caught my ear!

I like it the way it is. Especially as it is consistent with what was described in Crossover.

Too often, it's considered a given that in alternate universes/timelines/whatever, you can "get away" with killing regular characters. I like that they stepped away from that in this episode. It sort of makes it unexpected, and also keeps in tune with 60's television. I can't imagine that had they made a follow-up to Mirror, Mirror, they'd have done it, either.

Well done, very fun. Straightforward story, and I agree with those here who feel that Scotty and the others who turned did so a bit too quickly. Tom Haberkorn seems to have been working on his voice for Spock; I hope it wasn't just for his portrayal of mirror-Spock. Seems to be a bit more gravitas to him.

Vic Mignogna's Kirk portrayal can border (but in my opinion, hasn't crossed over to) parody, but in this case, it serves him in the over-the-top miror-Kirk. Mirror-Kirk should always be chewing scenery!

Chuck Huber's return to McCoy is hard to judge based on the little we've seen, but his brow-raise and quip sold me for now. I'd say just get him a wig though!

Another solid effort; looking forward to what's next.

Enjoyed the episode a lot. I originally was a bigger fan of Phase II than Continues, but I've grown to recognize the acting in Continues to be a bit better. Vic Mignogna's acting is excellent.

Here's hoping they do a Kickstarter with DVD and Blu-Ray reward tiers.

This is the best fanfilm I have seen imo and I've seen them all.

Did they do pickup shots at the Johnson Space Center for
the shuttle craft scene? Excellent blending of the live action
in the shuttle bay!

The shuttle scene was specially shot at Space Center Houston with the restored Galileo.

I'd say they completely knocked it out of the park, once again. Phase II might have been first, but they could learn a great deal from this newcomer series: better acting, better stories and an incredible turn-around time on new episodes. Good job, Star Trek Continues, keep 'em coming!

Only a few weeks to go until Episode 3. Can't wait! And for those who might not be aware it's a Mirror universe story.

On another note things I definitely have no wish to see on any future STC episode:
- We've had Michael Forest (and it worked), but please no more veteran TOS actors reprising their roles especially the main cast playing older versions of themselves in some stupid time travel gimmick episode. Phase II has done it and it just undermines the whole suspension of disbelief.
- Keep any connections to other productions vague and indirect. Please, no overt continuity porn. On this point I'm crossing my fingers in regard to the upcoming Mirror Universe episode.
- The idea has been put forth but I, for one, do not want to see any crossovers. Keep it TOS.
- If they do Klingons or Andorians then please let them be the TOS variety and not the TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT era variety.

FWIW, I respectfully disagree with just about everything you listed. While I would like the main gist of the story to be original, I love crossovers, references, continuity porn, and the occasional "old" character reprising a role. Makes it fun for me.
