'And The Sky's The Limit' - AGT Article

It's been a long time since I've seen this episode. I don't remember Q with that makeup and crazy hair. Was that in the episode?

I suddenly find myself wishing Season 7 was out in Blu-Ray right now. I can't wait to watch this again in HD.

Yes, in one of the future segments.

Although if I recall correctly, it was a scene that got removed completely in the two-part syndicated version, which is maybe why jimbotron can't quite remember it.

I quite clearly remember that scene. It's funny, I remember most of that episode pretty well and I'm sure I haven't seen it in at least a decade.

Oh, I don't know. The only version I watched for years was the version I had recorded on VHS when it originally aired. I watched it on Netflix at some point last year, and I'm pretty sure the scene was there.

Is the Netflix version the syndicated two-episode version, or the original full movie-length finale?

I've got a two-part version on VHS and I can confirm that the above scene, with Q and Picard in the Pasteur ready room, is entirely absent on the two-episode edit (at least on the version I have ;)). It was an obvious selection for deletion in the two-part syndication edit because it doesn't actually contain any plot specific advancement: its just a cute little Picard and Q scene. :)

The Netflix version is just one long episode.

Did a rewatch with some friends for the 20th anniversary. Great stuff.

The worst part is that it reminds me I graduated from High School 20 years ago- eesh!

This is definitely one of TNG's best episodes. My favourite Star Trek series finale. I'm tempted to watch it on Netflix right now!

Aww... Now I want to see a whole episode in the future, like they spoke of, aboard the ship while it's a museum attraction, and intending to steal it. What a great idea

I may now have to watch the finale tonight. That chambermaid barking back about Picard's tea being obviously hot is priceless. It took me some time before I remembered her being the landlady from Time's Arrow.

Maybe the chambermaid is a descendant of the landlady

I always assumed she was a hologram.

That would be a nice touch.

AGT is a masterpiece.

Season 7 really ran along on TNG's fumes, but it provided a perfect capstone to the entire series with AGT.

It's a shame the TNG films didn't end with a warm, light-hearted, fun sci-fi adventure story centered around Q.

Ditch INS, re-do NEM, and put a Q film as the fourth an final film installment.

That would have really brought the TNG narrative full circle and provided the thematic and practical links from Farpoint to AGT to the last film.

Oh well, we'll always have AGT --- "Sky's the Limit." and "I'll be seeing you...out there." Great stuff.

Give in to the temptation.

Come on.

Do it.

Do it.

Give in.

I went cold turkey on TNG on Netflix as soon as the season 1 Blu-rays came out. The next time I watch these episodes, it's in full HD. I haven't watched seasons 6-7 in about 10 years.

It hasn't been that long for me (more like since 2012 when the BDs started coming out), but I'm with ya, the new HD mastering has ruined the VHS-like quality of the SD versions, so I've been avoiding S6 and S7 until I can view it properly :)
